Australia is the 12th biggest economy in the world by GDP and it's among the list of countries with GDP-per-capita of over USD 50,000.
The video also discusses Australia and China economic indifferences and trade war, population and immigration, population density, urban population, cultural values and impact of consumer spending, research and development, ease of doing business, Australia's tradition food industry, government's debt to GDP ratio, Account deficit and surplus, Australian dollar, mean and median net wealth, super annuation.
Economy of United Kingdom: • Economy of United King...
Economy of Switzerland: • The Economy Of SWITZER...
The video also discusses the housing crisis in Australia, its reasons, urban population concentration, banking lending practices for houses, low interest rates and negative gearing.
The country, also known as the “Wonder Down Under” takes pride in witnessing the longest continuous GDP growth run. After 1991, the country didn’t see any recession for nearly 3 decades. The country with the long coastlines even surfed its way through the 2008 financial crisis without getting much affected. A whole generation in Australia didn’t even know what recession was until 2020.
For years, the continent-nation remained at a disadvantage for its remoteness from major trading markets like North America and Europe. But the late 20th century resulted in the rise of emerging markets in east and south Asia. It is said that “you are known by the company you keep” and the company and trade with countries China and Japan, along with the added power of globalization, made the Australian economy stronger than ever.
Estimated at nearly US $20 trillion, Australia has the tenth highest value of natural resources. While the presence of natural resources does not guarantee economic prosperity, and there are plenty of examples, Australia has managed to do very well with its natural resources and meeting the demands of the eastern emerging markets.

A very simplified picture, however companies like Canva, Altassian, Octopus Deploy, showpo etc, are bringing in millions, also generally if a country have good universities, good lifestyle and governance it attracts best talent, and in today's world talented pool of people is a big asset.

I am a little surprised that you did not mention the hard turn Australia is currently doing to lessen their dependence on China. Example such as Vietnam buying 30% of the coal and Iron that would been otherwise sold to China. How Australia is assisting Vietnam in building up their steel manufacturing sector. And also the recent deal Australia made with Japan and 4 other Asian Pacific countries, (Vietnam, Thailand, New Zealand and Taiwan) on the new Cross-Border trade network that will give them a much faster, also more free trade between each other, akin to the EU model.

I believe Australia has done the right thing having a distance now from agressive and expansionist China. Australia can get many other countries like India, which is a big emerging economy now, South Africa, Brazil, Vietnam, Phillipines, Japan, etc. US should also help Australia in this respect. Apart from that, Australia has got lot of tourist attractions like the Great Barrier Reef, South pole, can have city like Las Vegas, and many more.

Australia might need to diversify but simple economics is that if China bands Australia iron ore other countries Steel producers have an advantage buying lower cost Australia ore which is already happening in regards to Coking cole making O/S Steel works very profitable which encourages expansion creating new markets but obviously we would be missing out on the China market with its regular govt stimulus.The other problem with diversifying is the Australian stock market has been the best performing market over the last 100 years, countries often move into industries with bad economic’s due to populist politics which with Australia high income’s would be a disaster.

I found this video to be a tad bit Demoralising and offensive to be honest. I do agree with many points especially the fact Australia needs to diversify economically and trade wise and to create industry within its own country again, however some things I disagree with as well. for one Australia didn't provoke china during the Carona outbreak it was the other way around actually. Australia like many other nations including the United Nations at that time wanted answers and an investigation to take place, China pin pointed Australia as a target for propaganda as an excuse to accuse their government at that time for xenophobia which is bull!@#$ ,due to the fact that Australia is economically tethered to china its made it quite easy for the nation to harass and over the last decade Australia has been bullied by china economically and geographically. China has been Dominating the Asia pacific geographically and economically for many years now and Australia has only ever been playing nice, most to the fact we are a democratic society and we are quite young but with every inch china will take a mile and encroaches past the line. Australia is as about as much culturally diverse as the U.S actually and that is on a historical standpoint. For Australias night life, for almost a decade it was dead because of "lock out" laws implemented by the government for safety because of the nightlife violence that was increasing due to a ethnical and gang related issues fuelled on by alcohol, now that has eased off. please stop with your Australian lingo throwing its condescending and gross.... thanks.

How rich is rich...? Well try this for size: Australia has had the benefit of a vast range of natural resources and in abundance. It started to benefit from the gold rush in 1850, which apparently produced even more gold than the California gold rush, and the extraction of various natural mineral resources never stopped after that; a period of 170 years! Norway is a country rich in oil and gas, but which only really benefited from that some decades after it's discovery in 1967. In 1990 the Norwegian Government started a Sovereign Wealth fund so to make sure that the OWNERS of the resources extracted, the Norwegian PEOPLE, and not just big foreign companies and wealthy investors would reap the benefits. (During the financial crisis in 2009, Australia was around 3 to 4 % in the red; Norway had a surplus of nearly 10%!!! Just about the only country in the world with a surplus.) Today; Australia has about 25 million people and is in the red about 1 trillion dollars whilst Norway has 5 million people. Norway's population is 1/5 of Australia's and likewise, 1/5 of Australia's debt is 200 million. So, Norway's 5 million people could pay off the 200 million debt of 5 million Australians... not just once, not twice, not even 3 times over... about 9, NINE, times over!! They can, in fact, pay off the entire Australian deep black hole we are in and they still would have nearly a one trillion in their bank account, how RICH is that? So how can it be that they in a matter of decades achieved something not achieved here during the last 170 years? 1. The Government of the day laid out the “10 Oil Commandments” to the foreign oil companies. 2. Every single politician, from numerous large and small parties, put the COUNTRY FIRST and their PERSONAL and their OWN POLITICAL PARTY last and AGREED with the Government... (The complete OPPOSITE of here when Julia and Labor tried to tax the mining companies so that the OWNERS, the Australian PEOPLE, could get a few more crumbs from the massive profits made... insane!) 3. ALL Norwegians, which includes POLITICIANS, believe in a very simple fundamental principle; if it is found on Norwegian land, then it belongs to ALL Norwegians, not just a FEW and most certainly not only to some foreigners. The mind boggles as to what the Norwegians must think about Australia whilst they are making an even larger fortune selling gas to Europe, whilst here... to depressing... can't say anything any more! It's good to be smart, but it's even smarter to learn from others. Australia's most serious threat in the future is not from Indonesia or China, but from the Australian people themselves.

How could Australia deal with the “problem” of rich foreign investors who always buy as much house as they can?
@jasonwhiteley3612
@jasonwhiteley3612 2 жыл бұрын
Don’t think it matters especially if overpriced which would seem to be the case but if you need to you could charge extra taxes for people from O/S if it really does become problem in the future but generally it’s the tax pension incentives for Australians historical limiting of supply except the last 10 years.

It benefits rich Australian property investors, including a very large proportion of Federal politicians. So the answer is: we won't.

From an average Joe Blows perspective. were doing ok Down Under, ask most people that live here where else they'd want to live and they'll tell you it's to good Down Under, why would I want to live anywhere else! Life is what you make it and if you try to live beyond your means then you will end up in debt. Life is pretty good for the average Aussie, most peoples wages balance out the cost of living with saving money possible, the problem is most people are greedy and have to have everything just to try and to keep up with the Jones's. Great education, Public health care system, Superannuation, great social security, plenty of jobs for everyone and the weathers great, 52 years and counting, I've travelled the world, I ain't going no where, I'm living in the lucky country!

You are absolutely right about Australia. 22 years ago, I came to take a look at Australia for immigration and decided against it. Better options US, Canada.

No chance, us is so unstable and canada care too much about not hurting feelings. If you're born in Australia you have a 99% chance you'll be a millionaire by retirement. Facts. But both being commonwealth nations have that in their sides

@@Harrisao I planned not to live in Australia. It is a boring country. Only one thing you can do there is going to the beach when mosquito season is not very bad. In North America and Europe you can do many many things. Also every thing in Australia is overpriced. It is called high cost of living.

@@lakeofbays1622 what's there to do in Canada? Sounds like you visited lala land or a dumpster. Australia has some of the best beaches in the world, in areas gets more snow than Swiss alps, dessert tropical paradises. Not to mention one of the oldest cultures in the world. You saying its overpriced is a bit funny when your a so called "millionaire" . The only reason why people are going to Canada more is because their government has more interest pleasing new people coming into the country rather than its own people. Mosquito season hahshahahah that was funny thanks for making my day.
