I left high school in 2003 and was taught very little about the history of aborigines in my own country. I learnt more by working with and forming friendships with many aborigines in the min8ng industry. I used to fear aborigines because I grew up with parents in hospitality who had a lot of issues with aborigines but now I have a very strong admiration for their culture and who they are, very soulful and spiritual people with strong connection to country. I hope the younger generations realise how important their culture and customs are and learn them to carry them forward before this valuable information is lost.

Hi, this was made 2013 the nation has been going through truth telling for a while the genocidal history is compulsory in our education , hence the shift in the nations conscious, what started off with a few 1000 non Indigenous protesting has evolved into over a 100 000 marching each invasion day ( Australia Day)
@Factchekka Жыл бұрын
@@annanudniduck They are all brain-washed, mindless lemmings who have been indoctrinated over almost 40 years from a young age. The vast majority of Australians love celebrating Australia Day and have not voted for this to be changed. Every year in Perth 300'000+ people turn out for the Skyworks celebration until last year when the local council decides it is not going to do it any more. This isn't because of public opinion, it's a small number of people forcing others to conform to their minority view of the world. Question: Tell me, when you are marching in your protest rally, raging against the horrible outcomes of colonisation, do you ever think of the hypocrisy of doing that while you are wearing clothes and footwear, walking on a road between buildings, having driven there in you car, waving banners with written language on them, using public address systems that run on electricity, probably stopping off sometime during the day to buy instantly available food and water before using a flushing toilet to relieve yourself while recording everything on your mobile phone to share with the world on the internet to get validation? Reading the comments, makes me wonder how the “Anglosphere” doesn’t realize that Canada, U.S., NZ, Australia and SA, have the same shared history because the type of colonialism that the Anglo Saxon Protestant man implemented was pretty straightforward. The commenter is clearly impressed with the documentary and found it to be very thought-provoking. They were surprised to learn that such atrocities were still being committed in "1st" world countries, and they enjoyed the no-holds-barred journalism of John Pilger. The commenter also makes an interesting point about the aboriginal peoples' relationship to the land, arguing that just because they did not own it in the same way that Europeans did does not mean that they did not have a right to it. I agree with the commenter that this is a very important documentary that everyone should see. It is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights, and it shines a light on the dark side of colonialism. I also appreciate the way that the documentary challenges our assumptions about the relationship between humans and the land. It is a timely and important film that everyone should watch. Here are some additional thoughts on the documentary: The documentary is well-researched and well-made. Pilger does a great job of presenting the facts in a clear and concise way, and he also does a good job of weaving in personal stories to bring the issue to life. The documentary is very disturbing in some parts, but it is important to watch it because it shows the reality of what is happening to aboriginal peoples around the world. The documentary is also hopeful in some parts, as it shows the resilience of the aboriginal peoples and their determination to fight for their rights. Overall, I think this is a very important documentary that everyone should watch. It is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights, and it shines a light on the dark side of colonialism.

And where they sat - there was a wide circle around them as they never washed. Pilger does lay on the kindygarten accent a bit thick. I was told by uncle of Abos being set up in a house - they made a camp fire in middle of lounge and were using bits of the house as wood- I was told this around 1979. But -I had a friend in NZ who said he was over in Aus and was destitute - and Abos such as those huts took him in and were good to him when he really needed it.

Australia has a lot of problems. I think it's a failing society whose days are numbered. They have squandered what they got far too cheaply. Their karma will be to find themselves as a third world country, being exploited and disrespected just the same as what they did to the Aborigine people.

Why is it that I and plenty of other aboriginals that I know are happy with our life’s and celebrate Australia Day like every other Australian does. I have a really good job in the mines that I definitely got preference over white fellas as I am local and indigenous to the area. Yet I still see other black fellas living in central Australia where I live also, living in poverty and not doing anything with their lives, what makes me different to them?? I know what happened in the past was terrible but white fellas that are in Australia today didn’t commit these atrocities, I believe I as a black fella I have more benefits than a white fella does. Imagine if white fellas never come to Australia I would have probably been out in the desert trying to survive, but instead I have bought a house and car and am doing really well for myself. Why are problems that aboriginals cause on themselves never mentioned, I and multiple friends and family have been raped and bashed since we were little kids, the violence that happens in a lot of aboriginal homes would blow majority of Australians minds, yet we sit here and talk about what happened in the past instead of trying to help those poor children living in those conditions TODAY. It blows my mind how delusional most people in the city are about these things. Proud to be Australian 🇦🇺🇦🇺

It is disgraceful the way humans treat each other. When this documentary came out, I went to the premier launch in Sydney with my mates. Then I went south to get out of the city for a week with another mate, both of us white. The documentary was showing locally and me and my friend were treated like scum because we were not aboriginal. It was like we were responsible for the rich white British colonials that colonised the world. John Pilger's doco caused us to be threatened with violence and then kicked off a beach... two women alone. I'm a first gen Australian, grew up poor with daily racism because my family were immigrants. Ironically, I was kicked off a beach as a kid back then too, because I was a 'wog' by white Aussies. Thanks John for a very sensationalist and emotionally provocative doco that was forgotten in a decade but still managed to do a bit of harm because from that day forward I no longer get involved in Aboriginal causes. Not my business. BTW...According to Wikipedia, Forbes, IMDb & Various Online resources, British journalist John Pilger's net worth is $114 Million. John is a for-profit 'activist'

It’s so shameful, I wonder if the child abuse and violence was as bad then as now .

This is a really good documentary- this should be shown more. Alot of Australians dont care or understand generational oppression - the racism they constantly encounter and families broken and mental health because of that let alone abuse. Its important to note that Aboriginal people are diverse like any population with regard to lifestyle, wealth, education and situation. Im glad there is more of an understanding today about Australia day as invasion day. To think tho this was 2013, and now nearly 2025 and there is still poverty, lack of housing, still health issues, still deaths in custody, and even a law in NT making children able to be jailed like an adult

As an Australian I’m ASHAMED with the way Aboriginals are being treated! 😢 How can our government allow this! I may be naive to all of what I have seen but change is needed ASAP! I’m speechless to things I have seen and my 💔 i believe more education is needed in schools to learn about the history and also to acknowledge that the aboriginal people are the first to walk our land ❤

Ok you're woke asf which either means you live in the city or are a white women and if you're neither then that's sad point is tis isn't still happening and a lot of town/rural Aboriginals aren't friendly and drink alot but the news just doesn't cover all the incidences even with alice springs the abc even blames whiye people for them acting like they do
