I would give anything to relive my Blockbuster days again. Pure Aussie childhood nostalgia at its best! 🇦🇺📼💿

It so sad. I remember going down there with my mum and brother on a Friday night after the grocery shopping. We’d pick out a movie (usually one we have seen 10000 times) then pick out a lolly. Thank you blockbusters for the memories!

Netflix tried to sell themselves to Blockbuster for 50 million years ago and Blockbuster laughed at them lol

I live pretty close to this blockbuster (in East Morley). Been there to rent movies couple of times then stop going there 3 months before it closed. So sad it's close now. The building and real estate building beside it is turning into a chinese resturant and hasn't even finish yet.

This Pandemic probably would have killed them off anyway if they kept going.

With the incidiousness of streaming platforms and them replacing more and more good content with garbage; I think we'll see a resurgence of these places soon enough or at least small second hand DVD sales stores.

@@I_EaTApple - no doubt streamer sites will probably always be around but alot more would be turning away from Disney recently and that paramount plus and all these other high priced subscriptions Ive seen through Amazon to me & I'm sure millions of others are in no way near worth it ongoingly. Add to that a recent massive spike in global inflation thats happening right now & I think the resurgence is going to happen even quicker than I first thought. On average these days I'm getting nearly all my good condition dvd titles for around AUD 50c each at charity shops & garage sales and some of them are quite recent releases incl blurays. Some of the older ones that I hunt for & usually eventually get are only available on GooglePlay/KZbinMovies for $4 or more to rent or $6 or more to buy, Some of which are on Paramount plus but I don't see any point in throwing money away month after month on services I barely use or at least not enough to justify the price. I save alot of data aswell not having to stream them like with my recent release blurays I've gotten for 20-50 cents each.

@@frackjags American here, yeah, we still have a single one left. Somehow I don't mind you nice Aussies having that one instead, for a change. Rental shops are great though. Its also mentally and physically better to literally walk around a store, considering what you want to rent, than just scrolling up, down and all over a screen what to pick out- especially when its more than one movie. Have a pleasant life.

Sadly for the folks of that town, America won with it closing in 2019.

...American weighing in on this- I used to seriously *_*LOVE_** walking around movie rental shops, including Blockbuster... selection at a MOVIE / TV show DVD or VHS rental shop WAS GIGANTIC- with or without constantly renting only new movies- of which, yeah, I DID enjoy re-renting LOADS of good movies.
