The other weekend I hired a rental moving van, happened to a year old Isuzu 155. Did pretty much as you said, the turning circle was a surprise. the auto clutch manual to a little getting used to but did up change early, so manual shifted a lower gear when on a rise etc, in the better rev range, not economy. Power was adequate. only gripe was the factory mirrors didn't extend far enough out to see the end points of the pantech fitted. No reversing camera on this one either, that is on the current model. cab wise, surprised no drink holders anywhere, the middle seat lies flat to become a bench come filing box.

Truck and vans have WAY more space. Even halfbonneted van allows to load twice more. Also its possible to instal removable seats and take literally busload of kids, friends and MILs - legally and in full comfort of enclosed body, where usually tools and parts carried. Or 5 seats and kingsize bed. Or 5 seats and motorbike. Or couple of 800*800*2200 data racks when you are back to work. Oh, did I say about 3kw power generation with inverter, enough for any standard 10A-socket power tool? And pneumatic system with usual 1.5hp construction compressor? Water tap with pump? Ah, yes, for utes all this is somewhere in far far galaxy... And all this with awd (the same drivetrain as in Amarok, haldex + hardlock on rear). Yes its reality. See my videos.

I drive an Isuzu npr 4x4 truck for work. Honestly it makes way more sense to me to have a truck for work than a ute. I worked out of a ute for a short time, and it just felt so cramped, with two large toolboxes, an air compressor, and a couple bags with extra gear, on a single cab ute I was really reaching for room. Now in the truck, those two toolboxes take up less than a third of the tray space, I get an extra tall toolbox for workshop gear, and have a hiab fitted to the tray for lifting parts and equipment on and off the truck. And I can have a much larger compressor as well, which doesn’t take up any of my tray space. Plus, the space in the cab of even a single cab truck can make up for the lack of a dual cab ute. While its only got 3 seatbelts, you could easily and comfortably fit 4 blokes across the bench seat.

Nice Isuzu ad. They are great for around town and if you can afford to have a second car. I have a 2016 NPR 45/155 short wheel base and yes you cannot beat it for carrying loads and towing but it is killing my back and legs now that I am regularly doing 2,3,4 hour trips in it. The next set up is gonna be a big trailer and 1500 Silverado or Ram. At least then I can be comfortable and pick up the kids from school. The other thing is I only have a half length canopy on it and I am right on 4.5 tonne with just me in it. Those mid wheel base and dual cab trucks would be easily overloaded, so you really should register them as a 55.
