Have lost count of the number of lower order rescues India have had in the past few years. A combination of Jadeja, Ashwin, Pant, Sundar, Axar, and now Reddy have constantly saved Ind from embarrassment because or middle order refuses to fire. Reddy and Sundar were superb. Pant is so frustrating. He should be a number 6/7. He doesn’t have the temperament to play for long which you need at number 5. All his best knocks have come at 6 and he’s better suited there. Reddy was superb. Looking compact and justifying his selection. Sundar was also extremely patient and putting overs in the legs of the Aussie quicks may still have an impact on the result of the series. This batting performance from Reddy and Sundar also shows how Rohit, Kohli, and Pant should be livid with themselves. This is easily the best batting pitch of the tour and they squandered an opportunity to bat themselves into form and getting on par with Aus. Now India is going to give a 100+ run lead barring some miraculous partnership with Reddy and Siraj, and Aus have still got enough time to push for a win. Ind’s hope will be that their bowlers will be well rested after getting a sizable break for a change and Aus will try hitting and get out like 2nd inns at Gabba.
