Total garbage. A five bedroom house in Australia is way more expensive than most 3 bedrooms here. I sold a four bedroom home in Melbourne in 2017 for over $650,000 it would be close to a million now. Yes you get a bigger home but we lived a hour out of the city. Comparing Aussie homes to those in the UK is pointless. You will be paying more in Australia but it will be bigger. Australia is only for the rich now, if you are poor in the UK you will be poorer in Australia.

Really helpful video. In the last few weeks alone the energy bills in the UK have gone up by an average 54% per household. Mine have basically been doubled. Council tax and national insurance has both gone up as well. Making the cost difference probably even smaller. That aside the my partner and I have been watching your videos for a while now and have really helped us conclude the move would be right for us. The value added for Australia is the lifestyle, the weather and space. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Living in Australia right now and the cost of living here is very high and rising! Food is rising, energy bills, petrol and you need cars as public transport may as well be non existent. As for Furniture, bedding, electronics etc always been more expensive than the uk. The isolation here if you don't have family is also pretty bad. So just some things to consider but tbh once you have the itch to move i know what its like and nothing will stop you!

Interesting video. It is difficult to compare prices from one place to another when your home is significant difficult to the one you left in the UK. It is too long since I left the UK to do a similar comparison but I found insurance particularly expensive in NZ, our water rates are included in our rates, which seem expensive, the joy of living in a small township as opposed to a more populous city. My partner and I are both earning more in NZ than we did in the UK but the significant difference is job security, and the opportunity to move on to something better. In the UK it seemed hard to find a role in the same industry let alone change industries, here they give more opportunity and see skills as transferable.

@ProcyonAlpha9 ай бұрын
Long story short, prices are about the same, bit cheaper in Aus. Aus you get lower quality houses but much bigger living space. UK the houses are better built, but much smaller and less living space. Aus wins for the simple reason that DETACHED is not a feature reserved for rich people only. In UK you aren't getting a detached for less than 300k (Approx 600k aus) my cousin just bought a detached in Ipswhich, QLD for 350k aud ( approx 175k gbp) One thing about Aus that I did notice is that you don't have to move to far from aa major City to experience big drop in prices. UK has this thing called commuter belt (like a virus that spreads from cities to increase house prices) where if a town or a city is in anyway connected to a major city like London by easy motorway access or a train station, you will find that the prices are very high and since UK is very small, you will very often find yourself near one of these commuter belts, meaning you have to live very remote or in the north to get a good price.

Tasmanian prices have sky rocketed in the past two years. Home prices have jumped $200 000 plus, hard to get rentals for under $500/week. Land prices near to where i live have increased from $125 000 to $350 000 in the past 3 years. Don't get me started about health care costs, for me to see the gp it is $91 per visit. There are pension discounts. Very few gp's bulk bill, accept Medicare payments only so you are paying over and above prices compared to the Medicare rebate. So before coming to Australia do your homework. The pound is worth more than the Australian dollar so you will have a few more pennies when you get here. The pandemic has made things much more expensive.

I would get your visiting rellies to get their $Aussie now - it is at a 4 year high against the £. I might be wrong but I think it will only get worse. We export coal, lpg gas, wheat etc all of which will be impacted by Ukraine. Aussie exports over 50% food grown here whereas UK imports nearly 50%. Plus prior to Brexit average was around 47 cents - it is now 58 cents - again that might get worse with the way Brexit is going. Bad if you want to emigrate - but makes UK visits cheaper for us.
