Graham Arnold was an assistant under Guus Hiddink for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and today, he was the boss who saw Australia qualified for their fifth straight tournament with a penalty shootout victory over Peru.

My friend, you can't compare Uruguay and Australia in terms of football culture. We have a lot more people than Uruguay but about 75% of them follow other sports such as Rugby, Cricket an AFL (a kind of rugby but with different rules) and believe me, it bores me to death. Football is going in the right direction now and all thanks to the last penalty you saw in the video and some good performances in the Germany WC, it changed everything. We are also playing in Asia now, no more easy games

sorry guys the point i was trying to express is that australia has a small soccer following, regardless of what everone else follows, be it AFL rugby cricket or league.
@wavavoom16 жыл бұрын
geeze leave the guy alone he has done more for australian soccer then anyone else. he captained australia and been the backbone of the team which took us to the world cup. he is a legend and got australia to where it is now and you ridicule him for missing a penalty. If you ask me he has done way way way more good for soccer in australia then bad (in which he missed a goal)

Was at the game and I was very happy for australia but sad for Uruguay. I'm half Uruguay but was so happy to see them get through... I'm happy now though cause Uruguay has come back stronger and for a nation of three million and third world I couldn't be prouder. Sad now though for Australia they need to pick up their game by starting to fix coaching from the lower levels here in oz. Soccers a joke here now I want to see Australia be a REAL contender in the next world cup and should start learn

@XerxesVaia I'm aware they had to play the 5th best team in Sth America. But I think it's silly to play tonga, samoa, nz then play a very hard 5th placed team from South America. At least now they have relatively hard matches in Asia.
