Mate thanks for your support and glad you found us, it has always been my pleasure to serve beside US forces in the middle east as well as compete against you lads in exchanges... I lost a street fight with a massive black marine in 1996 but I didn't back down and now it's a great story over a beer lol. Stay strong and true mate Aussies are your brothers and have proven this over the last 100 years of combat on foreign lands.. Respect to your Memorial Day...

Australia is the last place I would visit. As a US citizen we have it made here. We have the 2nd amnendment and the bill of rights. Austrlalians habe no rights. They qre treated like criminals at every turn by their own government. The US is changing also but its still the most powerful and the greatest country in the world. I have lived in 5 countries and I wouldnt trade my life in the US for anything.

It is appalling that the ADF tells women they can do this job and be equal when their physical fitness requirements and IMPS are lower than males. More people need to speak out against this before this ridiculous social experiment goes too far and a woman gets killed on operations because she was put there for the sake of equality. It is really not on

@@HougeyOz sorry Terry, but the fact that there are lower standards to begin with is proof that the Department of Defence knows full well women are not suited for the job. I can only imagine how many women would want to leave if they had to do the job for more than two years, let alone the lasting injuries they would sustain from the rigours of infantry training. How many men do you know with crook shoulders and backs?

Fantastic vid Cas. To any young punks out there, 16-17 yrs old, making THIS decision is one of the biggest you can make. YES, the green machine is brutal, and as he states, stoicism and SOH are paramount. The worst days in the green machine are actually the best, as you will ONLY understand once you get to civvy street, as a person, you are 250,000 feet above your civilian team mates. Your ability to operate under stress, analyse, take action, and cope with things make you one of the greatest assets any future employer could EVER hope and wish for

@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Thanks Cas :) A funny family story from WW1,,, he was wounded in France and evacuated to a hospital in England. Discharged from hospital but still not fit enough to return to France he was billeted in a family home in Kensington in London along with a British sailor, and both were vying for the attention of the owner's daughter. The Aussies won, and after the war, my Grandmother came out to Australia to marry Grandad. And two generations later, here I am :) It's now a bit of a family pilgrimage if you're ever in London, to go and see the house where our Grandmother grew up as it survived both wars and is still there. I've even been to the closest pub to have a beer, assuming that's the one Grandad would have gone to. Cheers.

Hey mate, im 15 years old who is physically and mentally fit for the role of an infantry soldier. Ive done some research on the role, and it mentions passes in english and mathematics. Im not the academic type, my english scores are fine but ive failed almost all my math exams in the past 2 years and it is worrying me. Is there any advice you can give me on this? Being in the army is my dream job but my academics are holding me back.

Hey Nik, what year are you currently in? Australian Army is not wavering on minimum educational standards mate and you still have plenty of time with 2-3 years before your able to enlist if year ten results are a wash then you need to make year 11-12 a life mission to listen, learn and apply yourself.. Avoid distractions and ask for extra homework that may allow you to improve on the basics..

Hey Nicole, mate great to hear from you but I must be honest with you from the start and let you know I’m against females in Infantry and I have many reasons for that from experience and also caring.. I probably can’t change your mind Nicole but I’ll never bullshit you either but sadly recruiting will.. But to answer your question the very best thing you can do for Infantry prep is a CrossFit gym and let them know your plans and you can’t afford to be injured.. You have time do use that time but also don’t be naïve and think biology won’t matter when it’s time for the hard yards consider Armoured CORP’s maybe or even engineers but Infantry be smart… It’s tough on men but is brutal on women …

Also if you served with female infantry soldiers how did they manage? even if i don't enlist in infantry as im still deciding, i figure if im as fit as infantry pesa standards, then whatever role i do decide to enlist in will be easier as im fit and capable of doing tasks. thanks for the advice means alot

@@Nicole-jl7it unless it has changed in the last few years, your pack will be a minimum of 20kg for a field ex. Can be more if they throw a radio, extra ammo or a 66 at you. Thats not including body armour, your webbing and ammo, and your weapon. Of course, you certainly will work up to that through kapooka and singo. Then you'll be humping all that shit up and down mountains for klicks on end. Also, you gotta have the strength to fight at the end of all that. Grunt life. Women in combats roles wasnt a thing in my day (they were thinking about it), and although I'm against the principle of it (for many many reasons), I know its not impossible for a woman to cut it. You're not wrong that if you're up to Inf standards in fitness, everything else will be easy.

The Australian infantry have a great reputation, well earned, but to tell the whole story you really have to tell the good with the bad. In WW2 Greece, a battalion of Australians fled their defensive positions en masse without firing a shot leaving a hole in the allies defence. This exaggerated myth of the Anzac spirit is a marketing gimmick. It's not just Australia, Every country seems to have one of their own.
