Comparing to those Asia base airlines such as CX, MH, SQ, VN, they have a much higher entry requirements, you need to be a certain height for boys and girls, and there's also an unwritten criteria they only pick "better looking" applicants for the second interview. Once you got in, you need to stick to their way of dress and grooming including a certain type of hair settling and make up for girls.

You mentioned that aviation was/is your dream job - when did you decide that and why? I kinda just woke up this morning and thought to myself, you know what would be kinda cool... being a flight attendant. For context I'm just finishing up my bachelor in computer science lmao. I'm definitely a spontaneous person and while I'm not exaggerating when I say the thought of working for an airline has never crossed my mind every before - after a probably still too little amount of research I do think it'd be something that I would very much enjoy. I love to travel and probably weirdly enough the idea of being on standby to go on a flight is really.. for lack of better word, exciting? 😅I imagine in the moment it could go either way and sometimes really suck, but in comparison the 9-5 route seems so average ahaha. As a seasoned flyer, would you agree with the sentiment or nah? Cheers

I'm not currently qualified, nor am I in the position to drop everything and chase after it - but at the very least I'm going keep it strong in the back of my mind. I'm based in Sydney, and I imagine around March would be a good time for me to apply. I saw Virgin has been taking applications for a while now, but they'll stop at the end of the year. Do you know how often airlines typically have positions open, and how have covid affected that process? Cheers

@@vibe3047 can you apply to be based where you live or is that not an option? If you have to move to another base that will definitely cost money so make sure you save. I know a lot of crew stay in AirBnB’s during training if they don’t live where they are based. If the airlines training facilities aren’t located in your base then the airline usually pays for you to fly to another state, stay in a hotel and pays for transportation.
