Just for fun, broccoli in the UK (Sainsburys) per stalk, £2.19 (!!), spuds, 5 cost me 74 pence, mushrooms just like the pack in the vid was 98 pence. Good luck to the Kiwis fleeing to Oz. And baked beans Heinz, are different tasting in NZ from the UK. They also cost £1.40 per 415g tin. Supermarkets' own brand, often indistinguishable from Heinz, cost 50 pence or less per tin.

Kiwi here. Woolworths is quite expensive - I avoid them in NZ and shop at Pak N Save - way cheaper. Australian grocery prices are far more expensive than what we get told they are in NZ. Overall Aus and NZ prices are about the same from what I've seen over the last week or two. Meat is cheaper in Aus, but some of the other products are more expensive in Aus.

Also fresh food is seasonal so prices vary all year. It’s just logical really.

My mum is a Pom and we lived on ham sauce baked beans as it most reminded her of living in England. My husband liked the tomato sauce version but I converted him.

It's always good to to compare food prices. Perhaps broccoli is expensive in Australia because it's a difficult crop to harvest by machine, without damaging it. Same goes for most other above-ground veg. Much of the veg sold in the UK may have been produced where there is cheaper labour. In the UK we're lucky to have cheap-ish fresh veg, but processed food is cheap too. It makes up for us having rubbish weather and dodgy politicians!

Cheap pommie produce - sure - but we grow it ourselves - & distance 2 get it 2 ya - is bigger than Europe- still better tucka than most outside of that Gucci supermarket- Portuguese Brussel sprouts aside lol - seasonal tho 2 - broccoli 🥦 I noticed yesterday was first day about yellow - so exxy as season ending
