Scott pilgrim has three dominant character traits: narcissism, neuroticism, and surprisingly good hand to hand combat skills. This is based off a series of comics, and when the movie was being made the final volume wasnt out yet. So the movie team came up with their own ending and in it Scott gets back with Knives because they are actually sorta a better match in the movie. However they eventually changed the ending to the one we see now because Scott and Ramona staying together was closer to the comic ending.

Never read the graphic novels, so can't compare, but on its own, this was movie magic, as I loved it from start to finish. And due to how "out there" it was most of the time, I'll assume it matched the written/drawn works rather well. I remember during the summer of 2010 my uncle took me and my sister to see this movie in the theatre. Besides that it was one of the greatest summers I ever had. Ahhhh memories 😌

Edgar Wright was the perfect director for Scott Pilgrim. The original manga are so fun and quirky and feels so much like the movie. It’s incredible, and I hope the show does the two justice.

speaking about the adaptation, yeah, it wasn't the best but it was amazing for the fans. for example the fight with the twins, was MASSIVELY cut down to what was in the movie, the actors didn't have a single line lol. the fight with Gideon was actually different as well because at the time of the movie's release and and development, the comic series didn't get to that fight yet which is in the final volume. Knives and Ramona also fight in the comic which doesn't truly happen in the movie besides the little bit in the final fight. but overall they got a lot of the stuff in from the comics and did a fantastic job. whether you react to the animated Netflix show or not, something to note is the comic author and the movie director are both producers of the animated show and it's the best of both mediums in that aspect. also go into it with a fresh outlook, not as if it's an adaptation as they both state it's not an "adaptation" more like an alternate take on the story.

There are also comics that came before the movie. The girl who played Ramona, was in Ned's Declassified on Nickelodeon. The back of the knee is where the infamous 4th hole on a girl is.
