One Thing I Will Say About The Australian Gladiators Is That The Gladiators Really Do Keep The Challengers Score Very Low In The Majority Of The Episodes

Well the Gladiators always have the upper hand because they get to compete in whatever game they're best suited for, while the challengers have no choice!

Predator ended up with the same fate (and similar injury) in the third series. Though he planned to return, the show was cancelled before he could!
