Thanks for addressing the issue of parent visas. Coming from a developing country, my parents made a lot of sacrifices to fund an international education in Australia which eventually gave me PR. Their support has given me a high quality of life in Australia and I would love to do the same for them now. The sheer cost ($100,000 for two) and processing time has been a major deterrent.

Thank you again for bringing this great video to us as usual. Very grateful for this and all the informative videos released before, especially those on recent policy changes, as they are way more helpful than some random articles shared by other agents. I booked a consultation with AILS to discuss possible visa options after my post-grad visa expires. The consultant was knowledgeable and helpful. She encouraged me to wait and see how the new policy on the employer sponsorship visa would be implemented; plus, as she further noted, I should wait for the 189 visa invitation, which later turned out to be disappointing again. Taking the time and money spent here, with this unpredictability in place, I would be grateful if Karl could share more information about the visa policies in other countries, especially those less known to skilled migrants, like Ireland, Germany, etc.
@JJDK4852 ай бұрын
Yes. I would like to consider other less known countries as well. I read about the Netherlands, and Switzerland and I think they're good choices. However, Karl is a registered migration agent in Australia, so I don't think he should give advice about other countries' policies.

We're in a similar boat to the interviewee. With both of our children and now two grandchildren living in Australia, we applied for the 143 in May 2022 and having done our research we went to Karl to help us through the process. Then, the Australian Government were quoting about six years. Looks like that was at the very least misleading. The Australian Government really need to sort this out. There's a lot of propaganda floating around (fueled by last year's report suggesting changes to the immigration system) that immigrant parents cost Australia a lot of money, as we get old and rely on the state. This seems to be leaking into the Australian public's psyche and the report even suggests the scrapping of all permanent parent visas as one solution. There is no mention or suggestion of a visa option based on the ability to support ourselves. We travel there regularly and spend real money in the Australian economy. What I mean by that is we bring in money from outside of Australia. It isn't just money that is recirculated within the country. If we had the opportunity to move to Australia to be with the only family we really have left, we would bring with us the proceeds of house sales, pensions and savings, all to be spent in the Australian economy, and would be happy to take out private health insurance to avoid being a 'burden' on the State. Come on, Australian Government. You say you put family at the top of the tree. Now's the time to prove it.
@shivasuresh59576 ай бұрын
I can empathize with this father. I'm in a similar situation as a U.S. citizen who is in my mid 50's. My 8yr old son lives in Australia with my ex-wife. I just want to be with my son but waiting for 12-15 years to migrate? That is incredibly cruel. I don't want ANY benefits from the Australian government. I will pay my own private health insurance. The government should enact a contributory parent permanent visa WITHOUT BENEFITS with much shorter wait times. I don't want Australia's money. Like the father in this video, I would be SPENDING and investing money into the economy. I would be spending money on private school fees, soccer/tennis/swim lessons, computers, tutoring, etc. In supporting my son, I would be pumping hundreds of thousands into the economy over my lifetime there. I would be bringing proceeds from a house sale, ongoing business income, and pension income. There needs to be a better solution for parents like us who will be paying into Australia not taking from it. Thank you Karl for giving this gentleman in the video a platform to shine a much needed light on this.

Carl, I always watch your show as soon as it comes out. I agree, keep doing this good work; I also agree with you & the Judge ... Separating a Family is a cruel thing to do, much more if it's done through deception ... which is what is happening here. I, like you, I 'm all for rules and abide to the Law, but here in Australia sometimes the Law and it's regulations seems to be crafted to take people (visa applicants in this case) for a ride ... at their own expenses. It is simply not human. They seems to have forgotten that they came here on a boat 200 years ago and they simply invaded the place, no visa required, with the excuse of declaring Australia Terra Nullius, while knowing very well it wasn't. Agree that immigration must be controlled; but in the case of parent Visas, it has taken a ridiculous turn. Form a colleague, cheers.

I lodged my application for a 190 subclass visa to VIC in January 2020. I married in 2021 after 1 year of waiting and added my spouse. she took PTE and I completed NAATI CCL and compensated the 10 points lost due to marriage. But after 53 months of waiting they picked my file and simply refused my visa application. I lost my hard work, my 4 years of waiting, my family's future, my wife's career everything. Now I don't know what to do, only because of this non-humanitarian law. What can I do?
@madujithranathunga72706 ай бұрын
Yes, you should appeal in the AAT. If they assess partner points in the date of decision then they should consider the points gathered while waiting. They simply expect applicants to not marry for 4 years and if you even wait 4 years for the grant and then marry you will have to wait 3,4 more years just to get her in the country with another long waiting partner visa.
@JenniferOgechi-f4m6 ай бұрын
If you appeal, you will definitely lose the case, because you don't add partner during your visa application, provided that you didn't add her when you applied for your 190 nomination of EOI. You shouldn't have added her while waiting for your 190 visa application to be approved. That is the immigration policy.

The Australian government doesn’t want parents of their citizens to come stay with their children and grandchildren, period! Now even visiting they don’t want. It’s very cruel to do that.

Yes we don't want these scammers. I know of many sly students who came here .. scammed our immigration loophole, brought their parents who are already sick in their 50s and 60s. They start working cash in hand in restaurants, cleaning etc. The worst are Nepalese... this must stop now.

I applied for a student visa on May 22, 2024, to pursue a Diploma program. Could you please provide an estimate of how long the processing time might take for my student visa application to be granted? Thank you.

I think if they can't do better, they should atleast give permission to lodge 143 onshore and give bridging visa (with no work rights) afterall they paid a big amount of $130000.
@ailsaustralia6 ай бұрын
Yes that would be a good step forward

If I had this amount of money, I would invest it in a business in my country and my family would enjoy every bit of it.

The students should come and pay for the whole course from the countries they come from. Thousands are working 3 jobs a week and sending money back to india and nepal etc. Chinese are much better.
