I’m considering formally complaining about the TRA as they’ve been a total nightmare to deal with. I have friends who applied 2 months later than me and yet have already finished. I think you get assigned a case officer and if you’re unfortunate, they’re slower than others and you end up taking longer to finish. Makes absolutely no sense. Is there an ombudsman they report to? Would you say it’s a worthwhile endeavour?

Karl, while I agree with all your points, I understand why the government is introducing these rules. The student visa system is rife with issues, and sadly it seems there may be more students here breaking the law than those following it. Would you agree that the student visa program is filled with individuals who disregard the regulations?
@ailsaustraliaКүн бұрын
Yes but there rules already in place to deal with that. What you don't do it have rules so people plan their lives and spend alot of money into the economy and then just change them as they are about to finsih their courses
@estellebright2579Күн бұрын
Australian tuition fees for international students are crazy expensive, even for people from developed countries such as US and Canada. While there are surely people flouting the law and rules to achieve their own goals, the law should not cost law abiding people great headache and heartache to follow the laws just so the small portion of students breaking the rules would be punished properly.
@Solidude4Күн бұрын
People like yourself that follow the law blindly are the issue. You never stop and ask yourself whether the laws that are being broken are themselves just to begin with. Student visas are rife with issues but those issues are because of the government not the students. Restriction on working hours etc are extremely counterproductive not to mention the ridiculousness of some of the costs.

@ailsaustralia well said Karl. I am a victim of age cap. As you correctly said I planned for 5 years. 2 years + 3 years post study. Because of that I didn't took the PhD offer from NZ. Now see, at the end ive left with nothing.Just because I choose AUS over other countries. I started masters in Feb 23, June 23 ,they said we will get 2 more yeras. Then in Dec 23, just like that if you are above 35 you are left with nothing. See the time span. 6 months. With new incentives on June 23, there was a massive student enrolments. Then what they did in Dec 23. They got what they want ... Money. This is nothing but lack of ethical and moral cobduct. And what about the lost opportunities of students like me. Time is something that we cannot get back.
