Philippine Military Academy and West Point Academy(USA Military Academy) have so many similarities in uniform because Philippines was a former American Commonwealth
@johndowning22313 ай бұрын
I enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard on 7 July 1964 at the age of 17. My first unit was the 3rd Battalion of the 128th Infantry Regiment, 32d Infantry Division (Red Arrow). The senior officers and Noncoms were mostly veterans of WWII who served in the 32d in the South Pacific, including Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. The 128th Regimental March was Waltzing Matilda and it was played each and every time that the units passed in review.

The setting is the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra, Australia. I looked after the buildings, grounds and services there for15 years. Marching on grass is difficult - you cannot hear the steps as you would if marching on concrete , bitumen or gravel.

First time I ever heard Waltzing Matilda was in 1964 at Keesler AFB, Miss. I was in an AF tech school and lived in WWII era open bay two-story barracks, 50 guys to a floor. The upper floor of our barracks was Australian Air Force troops going to air traffic control school.

I think many respondents are not aware that Australia was originally a PENAL COLONY of the United Kingdom... Thus it stands to reason that there's some of it's heritage that celebrates a certain degree of lawlessness. 🎶 There was a jolly swagman who camped by a billabong underneath the shade of a coolibau tree and he danced and he sang and waited while his Billy boiled won't you go a waltzing Matilda with me...

Yes these are two cadets of Philippine Military Academy who part to study in Australia Defense Academy and then they returned home afterwards to give a career themselves
@AusPatriot5 ай бұрын
You probably did, the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) is world class, they train the future officers of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), The Australian Army, and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Some officers from other countries are sent to ADFA to study and specialise in areas that perhaps their country or unit can't offer.
@kenoliver89134 ай бұрын
There are officers seconded from a lot of countries at Duntroon. At the passing out parade they wear their own ceremonial uniforms - I think I spotted one from the USMC for example, and there is definitely a Brit in there. Plus of course from the neighbours - the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, NZ. Most probably studying specialist courses.

They were the PMA's foreign schooling cadets who were included in the graduates of Australian Defense Force Academy. Annually, Philippine Military Academy gives opportunity to some cadets who are really excellent to enroll in the foreign Military Academies around the world just like in the Australia. ADFA usually take cadets from other countries to have the opportunity to make themselves better in their military careers.

There's the traditional version, the march, a Welsh choir I read about performed it as a dirge and I have often sung it as a lullaby for little ones where I carried them back and forth along a verandah at a homestead out in the bush. In every military parade I have ever seen everybody matches. Same uniforms, equipment, etc. At leadt in each group. You might have more than one branch of the service in the same prade with different uniforms, but they do not march together. This parade looks like after a major attack and half of all armed forces are killed and they just grabbed what was left and threw them together. Anybody know why nobody matches?

These are all ADFA cadets. ADFA provides opportunities for people to become officers in the army, navy & air force. They wear different uniforms because of they're in separate branches but are all apart of ADFA and participating in an ADFA parade.

Going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume most/all are first year cadets and they now are all capable of highly polished drill. Dreadful drill, dressing wasn't maintained, not swinging their arms to breast pocket height, noticed people occasionally out of step, officer cadets looking at the ground whilst marching. They should segregate the individual services into their own individual platoons for the sake of uniformity too, and put the foreigners in their own contingent up front, not blended into the main body. Everyone on parade just looked lost. I like my parades like I like my women - well rehearsed, excessively ceremonial, and immaculately presented.
