The Gurkha's taught us practically everything we know about jungle warfare. We fought side by side in the hell of Pacific WW2. I have profound respect for the Gorkhali.

I served in 1 RAR, my Dad as well, my Grandad was 8th Bn in WW1 and an instructor at Canungra in WW2, my eldest son has just gone to ADFA and my youngest Daughter will join soon, my best friend is currently in the MEAO and his son returned not too long ago after a tour with 4RTF. My family and friends put our lives on the line, volunteers all, so I think I have earned the right to say, wake up, we are in a war, it is time to put the metal to the meat, either put up or shut up, your choice

Absolutely. Former Aussie 1 CDO Regiment ;) Royal Marines enjoy a higher operational tempo than us, and they are a far larger organisation. AND they have a lot more toys. RM CDO is about as good as it gets. cheer mate.

Yea WW2 was the IC's. The ASAS formed in 1957 as a Company. Funnily enough, they didn't become a fully fledged regiment as the SASR until 1964.

@TheRevolution808 First of all seeing that you are only now 17 you will need your parents written permission to even join the reserves & it will take minimum of 12 months to go through Recruit training and then IET (Initial Employment Training). You have to have served a minimum 2 years after IET and have a high pass in your yearly BFT (Basic Fitness Test, or whatever they call it now) even before you even apply for 1 Cdo Regt and that is not as easy as it sounds. More to follow.

@AmericaRulesCanada The video talks about Australian regular soldiers complaining about not given MORE of a combat role. How does that make them cowards? The video also mentions that Australian special forces soldiers (SAS) do get the combat roles.

Joined 4th December, 2006. Watched 34,470 videos. That means you have watched roughly 30 youtube videos a day, every single day for the last 2 and a half years. Exactly where is all this spare time coming from since you're "military"?
