Really admire the commitment to long videos, but it's criminal to just skip over entire sets. Like here, to properly get a feel for the context of Tsitsipas' comeback win, we need to at least see a few clips of how Nadal took the opening two sets.

The amount of forehand errors Rafa made in this match did him in. The baffling thing is the forehand is his bread and butter. The conditions also played a part as the night set in the ball bounce was less and made the match an equal contest. If not for the errors Rafa would have won in 3 or maximum 4 sets. But Tsitsipas flew like a butterfly in 4th and 5th sets with insane winners.

@ironknightzero3 жыл бұрын
@@tennisradu The more you practice and compete, the higher your fatigue threshold is. So, someone like Novak who's been routinely playing 3-5 set matches consistently has the capacity to go to 5 sets cuz his body's acclimated to it. I dunno how much training Nadal was doing off season, but it does seem like he's been taking off-time without training intensely a lot more frequently lately. Even his practice sessions look low intensity and just shot practice. Novak on the other hand has been getting the bulk of his fitness from actual matches, he's super fit and one of the reasons why he won apart from tactical things like taking the ball earlier and not giving Nadal enough time to get in position. And it's understandable if Nadal doesn't want to risk getting injured by playing more or practicing more, his style of play and age doesn't allow for that.

@@zeddeka Yeah, and I think he still hasn't regained his full fitness yet, as evident in the French Open, he looked gassed out after the 3rd set vs Djokovic. I dunno if he's practicing and training less to preserve the body or what, but hopefully he bounces back in Washington, Toronto and the US Open

@@ironknightzero well i think first 3 sets against novak at the FO he was ok in terms of fitness but obviously long rallies and a beat at the other side of the net. It was probably the most intense 3 sets ever mentally and physically with lots of breaks. 4th set he tried but he didnt have enough left but thats just normal at his age and the amazing phsyical toll novak put him to. Just gotta aplaud to the rivals effort. For Rafa, he had many break chances on the second set to come back and on the third he managed to come back even with a set point in favour but just was not managed to pull it through with an amazing drop shot by novak... again credit to the opponent. From a rafa fan!

@Ryo Shusuke Yeah I know. Back then it seemed like he still had a shot, but it seems the foot was bothering him all year according to Carlos Moya
@ironknightzero3 жыл бұрын
@Ryo Shusuke Agreed. Nadal's career is still in doubts. The doctors have pinpointed the issue, but are still unsure of the best course of treatment for his foot. Worst case scenario, he might miss the entirety of next year, and then it'll be too late to recover his form. As for Federer, he might have 1 last crack at AO 2022, depending on if the 4th surgery holds up. Good news is that Murray seems to be playing slightly better, guess we'll find out if he can beat Tiafoe later today. But yeah, I guess Djokovic is gonna win this US open and then AO 2022 as well, but after that, i'm not sure how hungry he will be for more slams. That is when the "next gen" are gonna start winning slams. The next gen can win all the slams they want but they're not gonna be considered the best even if they surpass 20 slams, simply because they never were able to beat the big 3

Can’t believe Rafa fans even dared to compare Rafa’s mental strength to Novak’s. Novak is in a league of his own. In terms of mental strength Novak is no.1 no.2 no.3.

Isn't Djokovic the same guy who double faulted in the 2012 Roland Garros final and 2014 Roland Garros final on his own serve on match point?
@haajiryabre3353 жыл бұрын
@@chamindujanith6337 if you are arguing double faults is a weak mentality I don’t know if you know anything about tennis. 40% of the time players double fault on match points Rafa himself double faulted on match points in 2015 RG vs nole. just go and learn the meaning of mental strength and come back here.
@chamindujanith63373 жыл бұрын
@@haajiryabre335 You saying about that Rafa in 2015? The one that got hammered by Andy fucking Murray on clay in Madrid 2015 final. He was lucky not to get bageled. Everyone knows double faulting is weak mentality especially in a grand slam final on match point. Djokovic definitely improved his mentality post 2015 Roland Garros.
@haajiryabre3353 жыл бұрын
@@chamindujanith6337 You seem to be ignorant about what strong mental strength is. Let me explain to you. Strong mental strength isn’t about not double faulting on match points. Strong mental strength is winning when you are on the ropes and coming back from the prink. Strong mental strength isn’t about blowing 2 sets to love lead. Strong mental strength is thriving through adversity. Winning when you are not your best, strong mental strength is being clutch on big points. Strong mental strength is winning when the majority of the crowd is against you and cheering on your double faults, mistakes and doing unnecessary coughing to disrupt your momentum. Strong mental strength is not choking when you have decisive lead like leading in 5th set. How many times did Rafa blew 5th set lead in slams particularly in AO? He became mentally weak that Roger starting owning him simply because he choked in AO 2017 final. Ever since roger won 5 of the next 6 matches. Can’t believe all you came up was Novak hit double faults on match points twice in RG. for your sake if you don’t have anything better to say keep your mouth shut.
