ahahahah... I guess that no one remembers that Tsitsipas "athletics" were granted by the fact the he didn't have to play the previous game... so he had double rest time before the game with Nadal. Would he had played Berrettini and "Tsitsipas "athletics" would be nothing to compare. (which is way Tsitsipas doesn't even have a single Grand Slam victory at 22 (when at 22... Nadal already had 5 Grand Slam titles, Federer 1 and Djokovic 1)

The thing that impressed me most about Stefanos was his attitude, he didn't explode in angry or got frustrated as he did vs. Djokovic RG SF 2020. He kept his head cool and tried to find a solution for his problem, this incredible mature performance by him tells me big things will be coming towards him sooner or later!
@theUroshman
@theUroshman 3 жыл бұрын
It's going to be rather sooner than later! Stefanos is ready, and if he doesn't win one of the majors this year, then it's going to be next one for sure. At the beginning of the year, I predicted that Medvedev will win one GS this year, but we will have to wait and see, as Stefanos is ready too.

In this match, it was not all about Nadal losing his focus after the third set tie-break. It's also that Tsitsipas could take advantage of it, by being consistent and hitting big strokes. A player of Nadal's class dropping in quality during the encounter doesn't automatically mean losing the match. The opponent has to play at a very high level, too, which Tsitsipas did today.
@tomswiss7128
@tomswiss7128 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I didn't have the chance to watch the entire match. I agree with what you said. But I was wondering (if you watched the match), in what aspect was nadal "lacking" from the third set? Like, movement? unforced errors? weak strokes?
@notquitemytempo1353
@notquitemytempo1353 3 жыл бұрын
@@tomswiss7128 Certainly a significant amount of unforced errors. He also for the most part made it too easy for Stef when Stef was serving. I mean he even won a game with 4 aces in a row. And at the same time he had trouble closing his own games, with Stef reaching 40 often and even getting some break points. To be fair, Tsitsi massively improved his game at that point, so it's a little bit of both. Like the other person said, it's not enough for Rafa to drop his quality, the other guy must play at his best to beat him.

I was very impressed with Tsitsipas performance. Everything was ok for Nadal until the third set. I believe one of the reasons for this defeat was his service. The second, in my view, was the belief. Nadal was not going for his shots in crucial moments. Very afraid to make mistakes. He was executing very high percentages shots. Not risking too much. It let Tsitsipas take the advantage of the rallies.

Well played by Tsits from a Rafa fan! He has the game to win this trophy I just hope the win isn’t in vein and he doesn’t fall in the semis or final. He’s realising his potential before our eyes

A packed crowd would've meant that stefano would not have lost the first two sets so easily, perhaps not even lost them at all. It would've have been packed with Greek fans.

@@jennyspiriadis3507 Interesting. I actually think that nerves would have played a bigger role with the crowd. And that stef could have gotten emotionally exhausted. He did super well to stay calm and safe his energy. Rafa on the other hand draws on the crowd in tight matches and gains strength and believe. I personally see rafa ahead with a rowdy crowd

Tsitsipas looks very "Federeresque" in some of his shots especially the backhand. 😎 (He did say he's been idolising him since the age of six and watching him on TV). Looks like it's paying off. 😉

Elite choke by Rafa - he has lost 9 of his past 10 tiebreaks against top players on hard courts. The guy needs a psychologist to fix his mental game outside of clay, look at those missed smashes in the breaker here. Amazing job by Tsitsipas for making basically no errors after set 3 and playing huge shots.
@pauljohnson6019
@pauljohnson6019 3 жыл бұрын
That's why he's a clay court player! He can't face the best on hard court, when they are in God mode, he would have lost badly to Medvedev, even if Tsitsipas did choke this!
@NLLeFa
@NLLeFa 2 жыл бұрын
@@pauljohnson6019 "he would have lost badly to Medvedev, even if Tsitsipas did choke this!" Yeah, we saw last month about that. The only player who is favorite over Nadal on hard is Djokovic. Otherwise Nadal has won 8 GS outside of clay so that makes him hell of a player and all rounder. Murray is known as one of the greatest hard courters of all time and he has won 1 slam on that surface, compared to Rafa's 6.

We are saying this for more than 3 years. Yes, next gen are good but not "always". Where is Tim?! Can you quarantee that Tsi, Zverev, Medvedev, Tim will always be in semi, or finals in every atp tour, like masters or GS. How many semi finals Zverev have. Mentaly, Tsi and Medvedev are much much better than Zverev. So this 2 guys are next, and Tim but he is 28-29 years old. So, he must be healthy in next 2-3 years. Medvedev is 24year, Tsi 22. And like Medvedev said, he have ZERO GS. So, our next gen in last 3 years, it is 11 GS they won only 1 GS. All of them?!
