Commentator Jason Morrison says the Australian public have “had it” with the Indigenous welcome to country.
“People have had it with this,” Mr Morrison told Sky News host Caleb Bond.
“Not because they’ve got a problem with Aboriginal people or Aboriginality or Australia’s history.
“But they’ve got a fair dose of them with the tokenism, it has become the kind of ‘good thanks, how are you’ response to everything, we say it so often now it has lost relevance.
“It’s got so far out of control in society.”

Seeing how they treated indigenous folks, I'd have to wholeheartedly disagree with you. The First Nations peoples have 70,000+ years of rich history and culture. They were doing quite well for themselves before the British came.

That's a delusion. The aborigines in fact were NOT the sole 'first people' to set foot in Australia! Do an Internet search and find out the facts. There were several races who migrated overland (as the continents of Australia, New Guinea and Asia were then joined) - the aborigines were just ONE native race among them. Who was there to say an aboriginal was first to set foot here? Who cared? Everyone who has ever lived in Australia has been a MIGRANT - NOBODY owns any part of it and have no right to, unless they WORK and save the money to buy some. There is recognition given to indigenous people and support already. Now our sport cops a smoking ceremony when is enough enough. English settled Australia all those years ago and unfortunately many, many indigenous people died. (Terra Nullus) I wasn’t a part of that so why am I being subjected to all this ceremony other stuff. We were at an international conference in Melbourne, MAJOR world organisation, and the opening speaker, supposedly indigenous, told the world that prior to (some year mentioned, 1974 for example) “you could keep an aboriginal as a pet.” It was disgusting BS and embarrassing. 99% of the audience from overseas would have had no clue what he was waffling on about. They would have much preferred to see some true aborigines and true aboriginal cultural corroboree dance etc. he single handedly shat in his own nest.

I was so tired of being at a conference where not only was there an initial welcome to country (which would be enough), but every speaker had to acknowledge the original custodians of the land. It was so bloody long winded. I respect aboriginal people but this constant acknowledgment is too much.

The ABC is WOKE central! It is time that ABC was disbanded as it no longer serves the interests of the Australian people outside of a few minorities that are already well served by the SBS. The same song day after day after week after week and month after month. As for the ANZAC and remembrance day program offerings I have not seen a single screening of the Australian classic of Gallipoli but there are heaps of other war movies and documentaries with Australians scarcely mentioned if at all. As a veteran whose father and grandfather were veterans I am personally offended by the politics of the SUPPOSEDLY national broadcaster. At least they could change its name to reflect its current role as the Aboriginal Broadcasting Corporation! Finally the "Welcome to country involves polluting the air by burning wood and leaves. The smoke is not safe for people to breathe in and yet they wave it in people's faces. Where are the GREENIES complaining about the environmental vandalism of damaging trees and burning them? Where are the members of the Department of Health? The aboriginal idea of land management is to burn everything down when we are not even allowed ot burn paper in an incinerator because of its polluting of the air. Finally Australian Aboriginals had no country wide of communication before the Europeans settled. The Aboriginals had hundreds of different languages. Suddenly they are claiming that we should use Aboriginal place names. What place names? The claim of 3% of the population calling a place by a particular name is ridiculous as most Aboriginals did not venture outside of their local area ad did know what other places existed and so how would an Aboriginal in Sydney know what an Aboriginal in Western Australia called Broome? The Aboriginal naming is simply another hoodwinking episode that we are paying for to enrich a few , (possibly not even), aboriginals. When a few hundred persons at best can dictate that the whole of Australia must be renamed they can go and welcome themselves to country until it kills them as I am not interested and neither are most Australians.
