Australians have voted for this with their support for Greens, Teals and Independents. They are cashed up because of property deals and can afford the higher costs. And those Australians who can't afford it can get stuffed. They are also NIMBYs. The solar farms, wind farms and new immigrants should all be in someone else's suburb, because their suburbs 'are full'. Just ask the 'lunching ladies' of Mosman in Sydney...

Basically, this is a clash between the way the private market works and how government's view business that is funded by unlimited tax funs extracted from the taxpayer by just increasing taxes. With the private market the shareholders will not accept companies to embark on projects that are not viable and that do not make a profit for the shareholders. Contrast this with Labor governments, the cost of project is the 'cost what they cost', to quote one Labor premier which means that for Labor the cost is irrelevant because if the money runs out the more taxes can be taken from the working class.

China approves construction of world's largest hydroelectric power station It will be three times larger and more powerful than the current largest hydroelectric power station, the Three Gorges Dam, also located in China. The construction will involve building at least four 20km long tunnels through the mountain to divert the flow of Tibet's longest river. India and Bangladesh have previously expressed dissatisfaction with China's plans, as they expect to lose large amounts of water that is vital to their agriculture. The project, the world's most powerful hydroelectric power station, is estimated to cost $127 billion.

He's talking about having cheap power in Australia, like coal and gas is going to supply it. We are one of the worlds largest gas exporters, yet we are having a gas shortage. The greed of multi national coal and gas companies is the issue with our power pricing, power pricing is never going to come down while we are beholden to these industries.

So for the people that don't want nuclear even discussed Fine that's your right but think about this - stop them mining uranium , stop them processing uranium ,stop them using uranium , stop making nuclear submarines all happens in this country ? Stop buying anything out of China and India (for a start) as they both have the highest carbon admissions and they both use nuclear power ?

Seems the UK is getting to the point where this is starting to pay off, although you'll never hear about it in the right leaning media. There are no constant inputs to solar/wind. The fuel is the sun, which we have plenty of. The solar panel and battery technologies are getting much more efficient and cheaper. This is what happens when there is money thrown at any technology. LNP wants to keep old technologies because that's what their donors want. They don't care if it's more expensive for us in the long run.
