Playing the black side of the Austrian Attack against Polgar must be a fairly terrifying prospect.

Judit often castles Q-side and launches the h-pawn forward and even sacrifices to do it as she did here. Her style of play is very exciting.

Mato I just subscribed too. I appreciate how you don't go in to too many variations, allowing us to follow the game clearly without too many of the 'outsider's' opinion. Although I do learn from your opinion, but sometimes people put about 5 different options out there and it gets confusing. You are very clear and I like it!! And I love you game selections. Great game.And i saw the bd3 move.Seems like i was thinking the same as Judit there.But to be honest the pawn push to f6 didnt occur to me, i thought smth like Ng6 sacrificing a Knight for mate with queen at h7 If black captures Knight that is.Anyway Great game and great video Mato.

Did anyone see the National Geographic special on the Making of a Genius on Susan Polger's brain, created by hard work and repetition? Pattern recognition was the key. Judit followed in her footprints, proving father's belief that genius can be created.My Brilliant Brain, youtube, not to be missed.

+Alfred Beatty Thanks for the suggestion. I will take a look. HOWEVER, given the very small sample size, I don't know how it can be at all clear that the Polgar girls did not have a powerful aptitude for chess prior to this type of training. Has the experiment ever been repeated?

agreed, but after ...Qa4, bxc3 and black is doomed anyway, since the white king can escape to d2, the white bishop can be safely put on d3, and if black captures the white pawn on f6, dxf6 treating mate in no more than few moves

You really can't see at 4:01 that white is winning? Pawn takes bishop on g7. Queen takes pawn on h6. Queen moves to h8. Checkmate.
