At 3:30 for anyone wondering if the Bishop can be trapped, yes...but black will suffer after Nxe6 attacking the Queen and poses many threats, capturing on g5 further weakens Black's king safety giving white too many initiatives!

At around 3:35 isn’t the bishop trapped if pawn f6 is played, I know I’m definitely missing something but I can’t find it
@jamesmathews4726Ай бұрын
I had the same thought.... the undefended rook can be counterattacked (as he mentions) but they you just retreat with it and what's the issue?
@Sergius648Ай бұрын
So... I guess the problem is e6 pawn if you attack the bishop with the f pawn. So if you try it after Rh3 - black just pushes away your only defender of it - the Queen. And then he'll take that pawn and attack the queen to boot. After that he'll have a straight shot at your King. For example: ...Qc5. Nxe6 Qxa3. Qe2(attacks that undefended rook) g6. f5 fxg5(taking that Bishop). fxg6 (your rook is undefended now) Rh6. g7... Baiscally you can't have an open King in the center together with hanging pieces like that - Tactics go against you.

At 3:30, why wouldn't black respond with pawn to F6, trapping white's dark square bishop? I understand that it weakens the pawn structure there, but seems like it should be worth it for an entire piece? That move sat there for a few rounds, so it clearly is a poor move. I just am not smart enough to understand why. Seems like a complete blunder to me to have moved that white pawn to H4, sealing in that bishop.
