Hello! Could You please make a video about the austro-hungarian sword knots, and bayonet knots of the first world war? What different branches, the austrians, and the hungarians used for the different ranks, and how they are supposed to be fixed onto the swords and bayonets? Nice content, as allways. Greetings, and grüss Gott aus Ungarn!

Thx for the video. Will you be showing us some techniques from those manuals? I think it would be cool to see a video presenting them.

You're welcome! Not at the moment, since I have a few other projects going on now. I might look at Balassa's bayonet at some point!

Absolutely awesome channel. :D Question:I try to find book sources explaining what is sabre rattling in the 19th (18th?) Century context. Would you have book recommendations where there are explanations on it? Thanks :D

Hi there, thanks so much! Sorry, I didn't read your comment until now. I don't know of any specific books but the term "sabre rattling" (Säbelrasseln in German) is closely tied to European dimplomacy and military conflicts. The term usually refers to agressive threats, both verbal and in terms of actions. I found a nice article from Merriam-Webster with some English-language examples: www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/saber-rattling-word-history Thanks for watching! :)

Do we have a translation for militärilde gedthunft vor dem Seinde.?
@historyandsabre Жыл бұрын
As far as I'm aware there is no translation for the manual as of now. If I ever have the time to make one myself, you'll hear about it. Others might be quicker, tho.

OCR doesn't work properly on the available scans and also because it's in blackletter. A clean transcription is what you'd need for that first, which is what I have been working on for a while. What you pasted above would actually be "militärische Fechtkunst vor dem Feinde". Cheers!

FYI Balassa is a Hungarian name, s would be an sch in German so the Germanized form would be Balaschscha.

Joseph Feldmann and Franz Chalaupka are two sources worth mentioning. Feldmanns book being better than most of these mentioned in this series including St. Martin.

Yes, Feldmann is a very good manual.
