The 10 bit is still 4:2:0 (same as the 8 bit), that's color subsampling. 10 bit is the color bit depth (how many shades for each primary color). Just wanted to clarify that for anyone wondering.

Great timing on the video, I received my EVO II and rugged bundle from drone works today and was able to use your tips on my first flight. Next I’m building a set of carbon fiber floats for it while I’m shooting salmon fishing in Alaska next month.

Thanks' Ken for the helpful advice. I have the evo 1 and my evo 2 6k comes in today and I can't wait to input these settings and try it out. DJI is a very quality product and the only thing I own from DJI is the osmo pocket. Last year when out at our annual campout one of our friends had a mavic 2 and it took him about 15-20 min before he could fly when I was able to go from unpack to flying in about 4 min. He was pissed and aggravated and he looked at the evo flying around. So he bought a EVO 2 8K and we talked a couple of weeks back and he is hooked. Keep it safe and fly straight!!

You've got so much charisma. Thanks for the Evo coverage. I subscribed a while ago when learning my air2s. Got my Evo 2 Pro Monday. I noticed the intense sharpness right away. going to turn it down today. Thanks for that. I also noticed the log footage was a beast I don't want to tend with.. being new to color science I have a hard enough time with dji's d-log, but at least it's workable. This is my burning question and I hope you'll take a second to lend a hand up. You mentioned 10 bit being 4:2:2. Thank you for that distinction. I'm pretty sure my hevc d-log from DJI is 4.2.0. But it says 10 bit when I run it through media info. When I looked at my hevc from the Evo last night using the HDR setting with no color setting on, it says 10 bit 4.2.0. Does this mean they're just using a 10-bit container for 8 bits of information? Not that I have an optimal post setup for grading HDR, I'm just resourceful and committed and really want to be working in that space, especially with my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra recording HDR10+ (also at straight 24 by the way.. not 23.976). I will look through your videos now to see if you have any discussion about the quote HDR footage. These distinctions are very important to me so I don't waste time attempting to accomplish something that really isn't worth it. I have rendered out incredible HDR projects with my note 20 Ultra footage. So far no luck with d-log from DJI and haven't had the evil long enough to see what happens in DaVinci Resolve Studio 17. Thanks again for your great content. Now that I am more familiar with the stations I've been watching for drone tutorials, I'm liking your style just about, if not the best. ✌️

thx for this video, I own the DJI 4 pro and it has crashed 2 times now through issues with connectivity, I just don't trust it anymore so looking at something different, the Autel EVO 8K 48mp camera caught my eye but it has a fixed f/1.8 so for landscape it kind of restricts things a bit, love the 48mp side for me but not sure if the 6k version would be better with the variable aperture f/2.8-f/11, any feedback on this would be great, I also heard somewhere that the cameras are interchangeable so you could buy the 6k camera and stick that on if you wanted, is that true? if so then that gives me a load of scope for my photography and video.

Ok, great info! Especially the EXP. That is one thing I will do for sure. My evo 2 pro is very sensitive to yaw like you said. One question i was hoping to get help with. My first flight was at my house. I live within 5 miles of an airport so I got laanc approval. All is good except there’s a VERY annoying pop up that comes on left side of screen non stop that says “Warning Aircraft at height restricted areas please fly carefully”.. Is there a way to shut that $h1t off? It pops up over and over and over... Very distracting.. Be cool man... Bill

HDR may have to be on for 10 bit 4:2:2. Wonder if there’s luts and or color grading for the Sony camera with the same sensor.

Very good video! Thank you. I haven't worked with log except for yesterday. I found that it is ALOT of work to colorgrade as well. Honestly the out of camera images that I get are really awesome! Sometimes I dont need to colorgrade at all. WIERD I feel I NEED TO GRADE LUKE however I will follow the force. JK. Great straight forward video.

Keep up the great work you do on your channel, and I am glad you decided not to take a break now (not that you don’t need or deserve one😂). P.S. The only con I have so far is that you don’t have gimbal control on RTH. Sometimes I need to shoot during RTH, and would like gimbal control, but small issue. Love your reply to “Carlos”😂

On my Evo1 I have to shoot at 2.7K or my playback lags on my older computer. I also have to look at my EXP again as I lowered down to like 35. Never touched the gimbal settings, but must give it a look. Thanks for the advice.

Hi, as one of the most sensible ones on here, I know on one of your videos you tried doing EVO 1 and EVO 2 Pro both using the same the Pro Controller with the EVO 1 as the secondary device.. I've done the same and it works... mostly... I can switch between either 1 or 2 however when I went to do a Compass Calibration it comes up for both 1 and 2 and says unable to calibrate compass as no GPS signal is available... yet I have 13 plus satellites on each 1 or 2... and everything else works fine, they fly fine and no problems. I have contacted AUTEL who normally respond quickly, however on this occasion nothing, no response at all... any ideas..?

On my new Evo II Pro, when I choose HDR, I lose all exposure modes except Auto. Also, no HDR in 6k but my computer won't handle 6k any way.

I noticed it also in da Vinci 16 studio. It always says the files are eight bit, never 10 bit. Something Autel really needs to fix, like now. Very irritating. I also turn my sharpness down by one, I find the default seems to add a ton of shimmering an aliasing that shouldn’t exist. So negative one is definitely the way to go. They should really make that the default. It definitely makes the picture look more professional and film like. I did the same thing for my Evo I. Do you know why that setting under DEFOG does? ROI it is called. Also what is Live mode and Voiceovers, because I haven’t noticed what either does on or off. Thanks in advance.

OriginaldoBo Hey. Yea, I know what that is and never use it unless there is a haze and it actually does fairly well at cutting it back. It’s the ROI setting that I can’t really find any documentation on. They really need to overhaul their manuals and explain features and be clear on stuff like the 8K camera can only do HDR at 4K/30. No HDR at 8K, 6K or 4K/60. Though you can do 3K(2.7)|60 with HDR. Which looks good. I did an entire video in the quasi 3K resolution and upscaled to 4K and the difference between it and true 4K was negligible. I love that you can do 3K/120. That’s pretty amazing. Though it would be even better if the 10bit log actually worked. I’m calling them today and talking to one of the techs about it.

420 can still be 10bit, that is not a contradiction. It is just an inferior version to the 422, even more so when compared to 444. Still vastly superior to any 8bit, at least in theory that is. I feel you when you miss the 422, but in general the cameras are overwhelmed with the processing power needed and it is also used to keep the file size to a minimum while not hurting the overall impression too much. 420 is keeping Luma (1st digit) and reducing the color information (last 2 digits). M2P f.e. also uses 420 (on top of which it crops HQ, or drops lines FoV from the sensor) but I always found the D-Log very impressiv and to be a powerful tool. But while the DJI LUT worked wonders for me and was mostly spot on, I´ve heard that the Autel colors are somewhat more problematic. Could you be so kind as to provide D-log footage from the EVO 2. I would like to fiddle around and see what it is like. Thank you very much.

The EVO Log goes along with many "if´s". For starters, there is no 6K, just 4k. Then you have do to away with 60fps, 30 is max. Also, it has to be in the 256 container. When you like Log, it is direct contender to the M2P, also at 4K.

Higher frame rate higher shutter means less light into to the sensor. Lower frame rate captures more light to the sensor

For the readers. THEE REASON main reason I went over to Autel is due to NO GEO FENCING! If you need GF to save you... Well I would honestly look for another line of work or hobby. NOT shaming here.
