Dear sir I am planning on getting an Evo 2, If you were going to buy one which which would you get the evo2 pro, Or the evo 2 with the 8k and why, I saw your vid on the difference between the 2 I'm curious about your decision on what you would do And why would you make that choice
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanandrews3232 The PRO is like the DJI MAVIC 2 PRO and is designed for people who are photographers who know how to operate a camera. Since you are asking the question (a pro photographer would not ask that question), my guess is you would then be happy with the 8K. Please be aware that AUTEL is changing the chipset inside the drones due to problems with chip supply so they should be selling off the older versions at a lower price over the next few months, if not already.
@jonathanandrews32323 жыл бұрын
That's the reason that I have been kind of a toss up between the 2 I have been into photography since I was a young Teenager And I thoroughly enjoy it From my camera I actually use a cannon, In the last 3 years I was in high school the end goal they actually paid for my film and I did all the photography for the annual, So I have been into photography for quite some time that's the reason I was asking you this question, And thank you so much for your great videos they are so much in depth with such a good smooth sounding voice, I would like to share with you that I have a light seizure disorder so that's the reason I like flying drones so much because they will sit and hover if I ever do have one, I must say though taking an early retirement I truly dearly miss work, I was a casino guard at 1 time, Never a dull moment lol

Steve, thank you for walking me through these features. I just got the EVO II a few days ago and I've already spent 3 hours in the air and flown 15 miles in 21 flights. I owned a Spark and occasionally borrowed a Mavic Air from a buddy in the past...EVO II is an A-6 Intruder by comparison! Sometimes I could use a REO! Luckily, Autel now lets you bind a second controller so a cinematographer can control the camera while a pilot flies the aircraft! I believe only the Inspire lets you do that.

I owned the Autel Evo II Pro for two weeks before it crashed on its own catastrophically. I am a seasoned pilot with at least 50 hours flying time with DJI drones and about 4-5 with this particular drone. From the beginning the drone didn’t live up to a single standard that the company claims. The 45mph speed is (in my experience under multiple calm conditions) unachievable. The 9km distance they tout, is absolutely false…the best I ever did under optimum conditions in an open field without obstacles was about 4,500-5,000 feet (1.5km). The drone is relatively unstable in flying, I read one comment from a very prominent drone pilot that states it flies like a brick…it does. As much as I don’t like DJI’s practices and money-grubbing, their drones are the best. After my drone disconnected at less than 2,000 feet in a loosely dense urban area with no buildings exceeding 15 floors or so, it proceeded to return to home and fly directly into a building. I have video from the incident as well as a screen shot before it crashed showing the ambient light was quite sufficient. The ambient light in (this downtown) was sufficient enough to see a building several blocks away in the background and recognize exactly which one it was. DO NOT buy their drones, do some research, and despite their claims none of them are remotely true. The battery that came with the drone along with the additional one I purchased are rated at 40 minutes flight time. I understand this is under optimal conditions, but never did either come close to that figure. Each time they were fully charged with less than five charge cycles on them they showed on the app at approximately 33-34 minutes flight time and underperformed each time with less than 2-4mph winds and flying under 22mph. If you want my full review along with conversations with the company, their dodging, and their vague explanations please DM me.

Ok so I left a comment this morning on your skydio video and was the one that asked of you did the firmware update..Thanks for getting back to me. I had said I was torn between the mavic air 2 or the mavic pro 2 and now I have moved off to wanted the heck out of this particular drone. I have done lots of homework and wanting some things that skydio has to offer when riding bicycles with my 5 year old boy and doing other outdoor activities. When he isn't with me I will want to do some more freestyle flying and getting really good views from a nice height and distance for sunsets and sunrises and such. Im not as impressed with the mavic 2 pro as i am with this one here. Autel evo has such a nice controller and very much detail in the manufacturing process. And does the remote really have a cooling fan inside? Very cool drone and I am about to buy this one for sure. If i still want it in about 2 days I am going to order one. Great reviews as always brother

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks for reply. I am getting ready to purchase this drone and im wondering if the 8k camera might be overkill for me so I believe I'm set on the 6k camera and 1 inch sensor. I was drawn to the skydio 2 because of the obstacle avoidance but didn't like the remote setup that is like the parrot anafi. Really close together and no telemetry screen. I wanted the mavic air 2 for the price but I want a bigger drone than that one. I want long range ALOT! Not to fly out of line of sight and miles away but to be sure I have solid radio transmission up to a mile or so. I also would like to not worry about loosing connection in urban/city ares and residential areas and such. I want to have a better fpv signal that doesn't glich out after 300 or so feet like the jjrc x6 i have. That jjrc x6 by the way shipped in a nice storage case and had an upgraded 4k camera on it. Having it for about a month and I'm hooked on consumer drones now. They compete by making a better product at the same price, the evo 2 is absolutely insane once you get into all the nitty gritty. It's not better for "everyone" but for people that need to use it commercially for example, it's unreal. The battery life is far longer and the range is far longer, obstacle avoidance is also better. If they have some sort of software like DJI's mapping software, it will far exceed DJI imo. This will be my next drone for sure.

Another good review Steve. I like the parallel feature and the side view gimbal action. I worry about the pricing of all these new drones though. I bought the Mavic Mini flymore combo. I’m still trying to get comfortable with it when I can’t here it in flight. I live in a rural area, basically fields and fence rows with small bush lots 50 acres or so in size. Price of Mini was under $800.00 all in, I’d be pushing 2 grand with those larger drones. I know there’s more and better features, I really can’t justify the extra cost. Also, license is required and I don’t want to give government more money. Drivers license, boating license, dog license and then permits for this and that..I enjoy your channel and appreciate the time and your effort spent making these videos. Keep it up !

Hi Steve I love your videos and also the Evo because the App is user friendly, the bottom bar with camera settings is great and easy to use and the best is "No Restrictions" As you waiting for the V-Copter this month. For now I won't upgrade my Evo 1 because I think the Evo 2 is over priced. Again I really enjoy your unique reviews

5:36 8K is actually 4x 4K resolution. Great video, thank you for the review!
@CAPTAINDRONE7984 жыл бұрын
You mean 4 times the pixels
@whiterock18654 жыл бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image. Resolution is sometimes identified by the width and height of the image as well as the total number of pixels in the image. So 8K being double the height and double the width makes it 4x the resolution, so we're both right in a sense!

I'm pretty sure it's only a 1/2" sensor though. I personally don't care about 8k or whatever if the sensor isn't big enough to handle it. Same with the Mavic Air 2. They just take "fake" 48mp photos. At 700 dollars more than the Mavic Air 2, all you get are omnidirectional sensors. For the same price, you can get a Mavic 2 Pro which has a 1" sensor, which has better low light performance than this thing or the Mavic Air 2 with their 1/2" sensor. TO get the same 1" sensor on the Evo line, you need to pay 1800. No thanks. Also, the Autel is much larger than the two drones in the way that the legs don't fold in as well.

Why didn't you just put a cable-tie round the cable?

Better question is why did not he use the cable wrap that was already on the cable? Clearly visible starting at 1:06. By the way, informative video Cap'n.

Great view, as always, Captain! I decided to revise the drone reviews again. I decided to take the AE II Pro 6K? second to the Mavic 2 Pro, mainly due to the lack of NFZ and the long flight time. In addition, I am planning a 640 thermal camera for work .. A very convenient drone for quickly replacing cameras and without having to rewrite for a new camera. Thanks and good luck!

wel, i did printscreens of the 4 k video, and the 6K video looked the sharpest at zoom 500 %, viewed on a 4 k monitor
@cn82994 жыл бұрын
The reason you won't see any difference is because this video was rendered at 4k. It's a pointless demonstration unless he renders a completely different video at both 6k and 8k and you also have to have an 8k monitor to support it to see any real difference. It's like if he had rendered this video at 720p, it doesn't matter if he shows us 32k, it'll still be only 720p.

I've ordered my Autel Evo 2 today and even though I can get a Mavic air 2 more inexpensively I want my dollars to send a message to DJI that they have competition and hopefully we can start seeing some innovation in the drone world soon. Anyway keep up the great work and I look forward to your next video!

If the sensor is the same as the Mavic Air 2, why is the drone twice the size? Why does it need to be so big?

I admire the way you create watchable content. You educate us on what to watch for and in the process encourage us to try to make our own videos. You set the standard and just really seem to care. All for free. Because of youI now own 2 mavics Pros, 1 Hubsan Zino, (my favorite) and several cheapy drones. I presently awaiting for my Autel Evo 2 pro. I have my license and the sky is the limit. My request. Stay healthy and I would request a how-to you make your videos. Include how you insert the little magnifying glass and double (triple) screens. If you make it like you make all your videos I know we will learn plenty. Fly on sir!

For just about the same price for the air 2. I can buy the original evo bundle. Complete with three batteries hard case. Extra props. But should I be concerned that autel will abandon it. Like stop making updates and batteries. Like Dji does. You know the drill.

I would have really liked to see you zoom in much more on the 4k, 6k, 8k shots to show the difference the resolution makes.. You don't crop-zoom enough and all 3 examples look nearly identical, especially the 8k shot isn't done justice... Would have been great if you zoomed into one of those parked cars or that camper or something and showed the clarity of the different resolutions. Still a great review though! Keep it up!

OK, here we go. I was convinced that I wanted the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum. The latest improvements on it were the quieter prop blades, better battery control through the ECS, and Yes it is expensive - but it is about the same as the EVO II reviewed here I believe. NOW for the issues. 1) You talked and showed the control it demonstrated while going up to avoid a bump or hill and follow down to regain picture control of the object or person being followed - this was outstanding in fact. It is exactly what I want based on the way I plan on using the follow me feature. But you said this model has this feature and some others don't! Is this really the case? Does the DJI Mavic Platinum not have it? It is advertised to have about as many side and top and bottom and back sensors as the EVO II has. 2) This whole issue about the 8K or others is confusing me completely. Your explanation about why to set it to 8K mode or such is for post processing choices like zooming in on something or other special concerns. If I use those settings all the time so I have the option in Post Video Processing to avail myself of them then I would fill up my recording chip quickly, YES? 3) If my Post Video Processor SW or my TV isn't already designed to handle the Very high resolution like 8k or such - what is the repercussion? Is it like a deal breaker or do I have to upgrade my equipment or is there something in the electronics that just handles it? 4) I'm a little lost again, I have to admit. I thought that the most important features of object avoidance and follow me were sophisticated enough to make my satisfy my needs while having it chase me on an ATV or Side-by-Side vehicle. I thought I had waited long enough. What do you think?
@CAPTAINDRONE7984 жыл бұрын
A few things for you to consider. The MAVIC PRO PLATINUM is nothing like the EVO II 8K reviewed here. The MAVIC PRO PLATINUM is old drone technology and very inexpensive compare to the EVO II 8K ($900 vs $1500).

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I guess you're right. I did another google and found that range - quite surprising. But I'm still curious about how you saw the rest of my questions?
@CAPTAINDRONE7984 жыл бұрын
@@rogero9633 I didn't bother answer because once I saw that you had confused the two drones the answers would not have made a difference as the EVO II 8K appears to be out of your price range since you were looking at the lower cost, old technology Mavic Platinum.
