Autel Evo 2 - Intelligent Flight Modes
Like most current drones on the market, the Autel Evo 2 has a few Intelligent Flight Modes. Some of these modes include Dynamic Track, Tripod, Parallel, Viewpoint, Orbit, Dual Stability and more. I'm currently on a beta app and early production unit of the Evo 2, so I expect lots of updates to the app and modes once released. One thing I was upset to see missing are basic ones like Dronie, Rocket, Waypoints and more custom controls when in Intelligent mode. I'll keep you informed on the updates and changes as they come.
NOTE: Waypoints was added back to the Autel Explorer App after recording this video. The same Waypoint options as the EVO 1.

It looks like the drone orbited at the same speed (6.0mph) that you selected for Viewpoint Mode. It may be worth testing if it maintains the speed chosen for Viewpoint Mode for Orbit Mode as well. Great vid!

I am very interested to see how many of these modes will still be available with the dual (thermal) camera. I was kind of surprised that only tripod mode was available with the M2-ED. I suppose enterprise models are meant to be either full autonomous for mapping or full hands-on for industrial vs any tracking features or camera tricks that are mostly just for fun. Plus I understand that support for a thermal sensor is going to take up most of the programming. These new Evos are definitely intriguing, though. I’m looking forward to more FlytPath content, like maybe camera swapping ? 😉

Great video of how the IFM works! Do you think Autel will come out with a monitor that's brighter than a cell phone or tablet. DJI's monitor is really helpful when outside in bright light. Love to see Autel do something like that too.

Really enjoyed the video I do have a first-generation Maverick Pro but considering buying a second drone because I'm looking into getting into commercial aerial photography Ben was considering the mavic 2 but now that I've seen this one I don't know which one would you pick if you were doing commercial videos like real estate weddings construction stuff like that could you get the Maverick 2 or The Evo 2? I'm going to keep my Maverick for a really like it I'm just considering the second drone I was kind of hoping they come out with the Maverick 3 if you heard anything about that

Because your field of view would not see a low flying aircraft i.e. a manned helicopter or even a light plane. Another rule comes into play...giving way to ALL manned aircraft. You can't see anything coming beyond sight of quad. I'm just saying this because the proposed new rules need to be rebutted, but if we can't follow the present common sense rules, we are going going to be grounded in a few years! Don't take these comments personal. We ALL should follow the present rules.

Is there a way to adjust the distance to the target in Dynamic Track? I can't figure it out. I tested this today and the thing wants to be like 14 feet behind me. I want to use dynamic track to film my team sailing, but I don;t want the drone 14' from the boat. I want it further and higher. Am I missing something?

Unfortunately when I looked at the app store details, no tripod mode or dual stability for the Evo 1 which sucks as it is challenging to get smooth cinematic moves. Hopefully they will do a firmware update as these modes shouldn't require any new hardware like the updated dynamic track does with the additional sensors for the Evo 2.

Modes seem very limited, hope the retail version has much more, dronie, waypoints, asteroid .....etc.

I think they are going for more professional use as usual, and not the stuff DJI does as much. For a lot of our drone work, we have used WP, VP, Orbits mostly, but even those are done manually most of the time given the limits of the flight modes. Waypoints they said is coming, but they are still finishing it up. Sphere, Asteroid, etc are not really their thing. Even the active track is not used heavily by most Evo owners I know. All are good selling tools depending on the users needs. In the year or so we have ran the EVOs in our company, every flight was manual control... I think that was preference more than feature set concerns in automations. Our guys flying these simply like to use the controller since they can get more that just a planned route.

mike tipton I agree, but there are times when a quickshot/waypoint is very useful. If all it is is a software upgrade why not add them, at least they are there whether you use them or not. Why turn away potential buyers who might just make that their deciding factor when purchasing a drone?

I have 3 DJI drones and an EVO - in general they all work best with IOS and the map does not show with androids ( EVO ) This is major as you don't know where the drone is without the map.
