Been waiting for the review and I wasn’t disappointed with the capabilities. Thank you for taking the time to put this together 👍

A good point to mention is whether or not the IR camera is "Radiometric". If so, the camera is more useful for inspection projects, since more thermal data are included as part of the images, and used for analysis. The Teledyne FLIR camera has been used by DJI, while other manufacturers use a non-radiometric camera that costs a lot less, has less thermal data, and may look less sharp. Note that we don't expect to see higher resolution IR cameras, since they require the sensor to be cooled to minimize noise. Thanks for the review.

I really want this drone to be all that is has been hyped up to be. The thermal zoom degradation is scaring me a little. Seemed like the M30T did not degrade this bad when zoomed in. Do you think it has to do with the M30T having a larger thermal sensor?? What are your thoughts on the thermal zoom after having used it now? Any insight is appreciated.

Have you seen any method to put a "pinpoint" or other identifier on the current location of the rangefinder cursor? (could offer to place such a point at the aircraft location OR the rangefinder point). Ideally, we could fly the aircraft to any pinpoint previously recorded. Ideally, pinpoints would be exported along with other data. Ideally, pinpoints could be loaded from a file (from a previous flight or other points identified off-line). The current aircraft (Autel and DJI) have so much zoom capability that it can be like looking through a soda straw at the ground, while the aircraft is elsewhere, so being able to place a pinpoint would be very valuable to identify the location that is in view. Thanks again for the review.

MSL = Mean Sea Level or you may see ASL = Above Sea Level. These are a couple of labels for elevation. We are used to seeing elevation-above-home-point (return-to-home-altitude). We are also used to watching our elevation-above-ground and keeping that value less than 400'. MSL elevations are challenging to provide. They are likely to be GPS elevations. These values are likely to be noisy as they are more challenging to calculate from GPS satellite data, and RTK values will be much less noisy (if you have an RTK module and it is active). So, be cautious about how you use the MSL values. AHP (above home point) are usually the only value you have available. If you have a rangefinder and your gimbal is pointed straight down, the values should be very accurate for your aircraft above the ground.

Mean Sea Level, LOL, If I remember correctly autel was able to use an internal barometer to get this... but for it to work properly you need to set your altimeter to the pressure reporting for that area. Autel may be able to do this using the barometer and GPS i think.... Man been a while... thank you for the demo and showing the features!!

Can the Latitude/Longitude format be changed from decimal degrees ("DD", what you are using) to decimal minutes ("DM") or degrees,minutes,seconds ("DMS"). Autel has provided two but not three formats (EVO II v1, Explorer app). Decimal Degrees is the format stored by the aircraft, and the displayed format can be changed. The aviation community commonly uses Decimal Minutes, and the sectional maps (that we studied for our Part 107 exams) show Decimal Minutes. In our area, helicopters display Decimal Minutes and may require the crew to convert different formats to Decimal Minutes for use in the aircraft. (newer avionics provide more functionality) So, our SAR team has standardized on Decimal Minutes so we don't need to convert when communicating with helicopters. But this is the one format that Autel has not provided (EVO II v1). Yes, some teams use UTM. We would if helos could also work with UTM.

I’ve been watching this drone for quite a while now, and since it’s release (finally) I’ve been waiting for a video from you guys for a review on this one to put me over the edge on a decision to buy or not. Looks like I’m gonna be getting this one for sure. From the vid, it appeared to have very good camera quality also (48mp and 50mp). Do you think this could be an all around good purchase for quality aerial photography for real estate shoots to inspections to mapping? I would also be using it for search and rescue at work, but that is kind of a given with the thermal. Just wondering if it would also be good for my drone biz as well. Thanks for the vid !! Can’t wait for the follow-ups.

Unless you do technical inspections all around (cell towers, solar farms, powerlines, ...), this drone would be an overkill. For photography you might as well buy a Dji Mini 3 Pro or at most a Mavic 3 E. If you are in mapping th as t would leave you enough money to buy a full base station and RTK puck to up your precision.
@ScottHester-k2g Жыл бұрын
@@DakarBlues I already own a Mini 3 Pro. The question was related to camera quality to possibly use as an “all around” drone for anything from Real Estate pics to inspections of all sorts, including the ones you mentioned. Thanks for the input, though.

The thermal doesn't look as detailed as the H20T DJI uses in the Mavic 3T & Matrice 30T.

We’ll do a video comparing the Autel vs the DJI. The video you’re seeing here was from a screen record, so the footage is significantly degraded, add KZbin compression and it’s going to look a little muddy.

I would never spend over $8,000 for a drone with a company that has a reputation of not supporting older drones with batteries. this is a company that is no longer really truly interested in the consumer Market.

There is a firm aware update coming later this month that will unlock some features like mission planning. I will check on the jpg photos. Overall, it’s a new aircraft and they’re working out some of the kinks.
