So, the battery fixed my 908... I didn't have to send it in... I did have one fail, however, sent it to Autel, they sent me a new one (for a price...)

I have a autel maxisys im608 and believe I short circuited the charging port and smoke came out and smelled like burnt. Everything else works fine but now I can’t charge the scanner. Tried different cables, cables work but won’t charge the scanner

No... it is a stand-alone tablet. The interface module is what powers up when you connect it to the car...

What are the symptoms of the battery failure? Mine turn on for 7 seconds and go black screen after that you can't do anything. After leave it for a day, i can turn it on again and it will turn on for 7 seconds.

Do you think a battery with a 10mm thickness will fit? The ones you used are out of stock. the measured 8mm thick according to description.

This problem is most probably NOT caused by the batteries...it is probably a software problem with Autel. I have a 908 doing the same thing- will send it in for repairs. At the same time they will update the software...costs somewhere around $1000....

is funny that so many people are with the same problem, I have sent a recovery to boot from the sd but I know it will delete the scan. folder trying to save that folder to install the recovery, I will warn you with my progress. A greeting and thanks

Hi, Our Autel has suffered a fall/knock and the LIPO charging PCB has broken when the batteries shifted. Does anyone known the pinout or voltages? e.g. is there 3.7v or 7.4v on the pins? looking at the way it's connected I would go for 7.4v but I don't want to put a third party lipo pcb in and get the wrong voltage back to the unit.

No...if the battery had higher voltage, then maybe, but higher amp hour just means the battery will last longer...

Yes it does. HOWEVER... from what I've seen, the original battery usually lasts for the warranty period. By the time the battery dies, the warranty has expired anyway...

The MS906 uses a single battery. I used an Ofeely 3.7V 6000mah 906090 battery from Amazon, it's dimensions are 60mm x 90mm but the OFEELY 8065113 might work too with dimensions of 65mm x 113mm because I had a lot of room left, I just didn't know if the higher rating (8000mah) would confuse the factory current limiter. My unit went down just like all the others..... FAILED BATTERY, in fact after just 6 months the battery fell short of exploding outright... it had swollen to 4 times it's normal size and was deforming the motherboard a good 5mm. I replaced the battery and it's working like a charm again. I am amazed that the motherboard didn't suffer damage from being so deformed but I guess they built that part with durability in mind.

I haven't been able to turn it on ever since except when it comes on for a few second and turns back off and the power button light stay on even with the cord plug in it doesn't work am wondering if its my battery

Hmmm... I guess I would suggest you get back in there and retry those connections... you can search YT for some instructional videos on printed circuit board cable connectors... Hopefully you can get it going!

Appreciate the encouragement. Unfortunately I damaged the connector for one of the ribbon cables when disconnecting it. I had no idea how to disconnect it, maybe a little more description about that step would have been helpful in my case.

I can't say...on mine, it would just go dead within about 10 minutes after I unplugged it. After the battery installation, I now get several days. The colored lines you get may be some other problem.... Try the new batteries and see what happens...

Yet another device without an easy, user replaceable battery. It's amazing that they can sell this crap! I guess buyers don't even think about the planned obsolescence at the time of purchase. Such an expensive device too. What a shame.

You're seriously lucky you didn't have one of those batteries catch fire. Looks like they're lithium polymer. Bending like that will cause them to rupture internally and can explode. Search for Lipo fire videos.
