I have learned on my X Star Premium...if I use the camera setting "High light warning" ...and if the camera is way to light...Ill get the "Video Interference" warning a LOT more . Awesome video!

We had a demo at work today on the new Autel (pronounced "Ah-tel", not "Ow-tel") Evo today. They addressed many of disadvantages you mention here on the X-Star, so thank you! Maybe your review had something to do with it! The Evo has a great price point, and seems "heavier duty" than its competitors (DJI Mavic Pro and Mavic Air). Autel is aiming the Evo at more of a business or professional customer. But I'm sure they will sell to anyone with $999. :) I really like how the Evo R/C has a built-in video monitor screen, no need to add your smartphone. But you still can if you want for a larger screen.

Thanks for the great video. Just bought this drone and a Samsung Tab A 7" tablet for $109 at Best Buy for a better viewing experience. My phone was kinda small. Taking it slow, watching a lot of videos, and doing my homework so I am prepared for first flight. The scenery where you shot this video is awesome. Thanks again very informative for a newbie.... Good review RC. I too have a problem with controlling sensitivity. I thought it was just me being new to using the controller. I did find that if I put the joystick closer to the base of my thumb for certain shots it helped.

They are releasing the SDK for the X-Star so maybe someone will write an aftermarket app like we have for Solo that will give us way more capabilities. I have always had a sneaking suspicion that there is a good deal of Solo guts inside the Autel's and if you put controllers side by side you will think the same thing. The SDK will tell us a lot about what is going on inside.

You should do a camera settings tutorial for the new comers. Your settings and Post work results are great.

Do as the pros do and shoot everything in RAW. You can correct many mistakes in post if you start with raw data. One thing about your overexposure, you can always take things out, if you underexpose you can't add them back in :)

Your are so lucky to live in a country that has amazing scenery. I could watch that for hours. A few tips. I believe in this video at the start you may have the antenna orientation wrong?Also i believe you can increase the speed and proximity to the object in orbit mode. And all us Autel owners hope that the new software update will cure the yaw problem. I know from experience flying with dji products that they suffer the same problems believe it or not.Fly safe

I've only once been out to the limit of 1.2 miles. Lost rc connection and it came straight back to me. RTH kicked in. I've thought about buying the wind surfers as they are referred to. I've seen the itelite upgrade and they seem to work really well but apparently you need to make sure it is pointed in the rite direction in relation to the quad. I fly here with A LOT of dji quads and they have exactly the same issues that we do. When I bought my pumkin i saved $600 compared to the dji equivalent. I think I made the rite choice. The fact that it is taking so long to release a new firmware update shows they care 👍. Safe flying mate.

They have dropped many prices which is a bit of a worry actually. Either they are having cash flow problems or they are getting ready to drop what they have and release a new bird. If they pull a DJI and change everything with a new bird they will basically commit suicide since why not go DJI if you want to have to replace everything every year or so like Apple expects you to do.

Great videos Jason, glad your liking your drone, I have yet to get my phantom out for the first fight but it should be soon, l heard of this app. Called litchi, that is suppose to enable the phantom 3 standard, to have a whole bunch more features than the Dji app, such as follow me, active track, and point of interest, and great range, what the drone was lacking before! So I guess I will half to wait and see! Take care

Better make sure you warranty is still good when flying with an aftermarket app. Could be a very costly mistake.....

Great review very well done thank you. One thing I noticed very few reviewers talked about how to operate the cam pan and tilt while it's flying I don't think you mentioned that part.

The RC Cave thanks bro I did a little research on their KZbin channel and found the camera controls. I understand what you meant about the yaw control needing to be smoother. I have a latrax Alias quadcopter and one thing I like about it is you can customize the speed of all axis. I know this is going to sound superficial but what originally caught my attention from that drone was the cool color. Peace

That s what i have heard i have solo dr3 for now but i am waiting for the newer autel . I use my drone for aerial photography. From what heard they are a great company. I just hope newer restriction down the road don't hinder us from flying free

Own 5 Solos and they are my go to drones when everything else can't hack it. I will fly them over my Typhoon H in many cases since they have so many built features that NO ONE has yet to duplicate. BTW I chuckle when I look at my Autel remote control. Basically looking at a Solo controller minus some features. The community support for Solo is second to none, the pricing now on eBay is basically like stealing them, and the Solex aftermarket app just adds that much more to the drone.When companies like Sony, Microsoft, Intel, Kodak, and Autodesk throw their weight behind a commercial product there has to be something there. Basically 3DR made a conscious decision to leave the toy market to DJI and others and pursue where the real money will ultimately be in this field. Yuneec is heading that way with them and hopefully Autel will with some new sensors/cameras go the same way, if they ever hire someone that can write code worth a crap and get it out the door.

Actually the problem with your compass calibration on the 1st try was that you didn't face the down after your 1st rotation also you should hold the drone by the motor arms and not the landing legs. Holding the legs you are covering up the drone antennas the way you are grabbing it that are mounted in the legs!

Smart move on your part with the autel For the price what you get with the solo is amazing . It's a great drone. It can handle a crash real good . I have no issue with mine. I get about 18 satilite with it never have calibrate at a new location so far I paid 1000.00 for chroma drone in 2015 and they dont make it anymore . Plus I crashed and no support to get it fix. The camera was made by Yunnecc and the rest by horizon hobby. Neither wanted to help so I sold it for parts. So customer service is major plus for me , and I will buying autel when fun ds are available
