Authentic Italian Foods VS Olive Garden Italian Kitchen

Years ago I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and one of the other students tried to order Alfredo on the second night of out trip in a restaurant. It felt like the longest 30 sec pause and stare between her and the waiter 😂I truly miss how fresh the food was in Italy, but I will always enjoy an olive garden bread stick.

Italians typically don't use the parmesan cheese altogether, because it actually masks the flavor of the pasta. Instead, they typically sprinkle a little pecorino romano cheese on their pasta. As you saw with the meatballs, meatballs are typically small and served on their own in italy, instead of on a bed of pasta. Also, In Italy, most salads are relatively simple and topped with just salt, pepper, oil and vinegar (rather than all the toppings you would see at olive garden - and not the "italian" dressing they have at olive garden).

mmm dunno where you gather your info but here in Italy we use a lot of cheese as toping for pasta. And unless is a seafood dish nobody will ever tell you that cheese spoil the flavor. Parmigiano Reggiano is the main and more common topping followed by Pecorino and Grana Padano, also very used expecially in mountain reagions is Smoked Ricotta.

I do love me some Olive Garden you shoulda got some Zuppa Toscana as the soup it’s so fire especially when you dip breadsticks in it I love the fettuccine Alfredo there but those authentic noodles you had at the other local spot looked amazing tbh I usually get the chicken parm now at Olive Garden but instead of red sauce I ask for Alfredo instead

Chicken gnocchi is the only reason I go to Olive Garden. Unlimited soup unlimited salad unlimited bread sticks. Take your main home. So 2 meals. Def don’t go for authentic Italian I feel like it’s just designed as pasta restaurant. I can imagine it even comparing to quality of Italian food.
