Normally when we cook ( I’m a 2nd Generation British Jamaican 🇬🇧🇯🇲) we don’t measure anything. That’s how our mum taught us to cook. We just dash in the ingredients & u just know when to stop honestly! It’s funny cos the dartah is all about timimg & putting a certain amount of ingredients in it. But if her mum got on widdit, she’d just dash ting in & cook it. Just like me madda! Bless her! 💝💝

Sorry, I didn’t see your question. Yes, it’s a LeCruset enamel Dutch oven - 6.75 quarts - it fits 6 quarts comfortably. I inherited it from my grandma. But I’ve seen it in stores like Macy’s, bed bath & beyond & on amazon. They are pricy. We use cast iron, this enamel dutch pot and stainless steel (pasta pot).

simplyMADE nawh , it’s not that she didn’t want to give the measurements, cooks like her don’t cook by measuring, they cook by just eyeing , tasting & having an inner timing as to when to do the next step. If you notice the granddtr is giving the measurements & time, something she’s not accustomed to doing, my grandma didn’t cook by measurements nor does my mom.

Hi i.just saw your video and my late mother. Taught me to cook at a early age 14 years old. I like your octail and butter beans. I have great memories when i lived in Jamaica with my late mother and father. I learnt a lot and i enjoy cooking and my kitchen in my home here is the heart of my house. Oxtail rice and peas i like butter beans i feel that it does not become this delicious dish without the butter beans. I cook curry mutton and i can cook curry chicken. Steam fish. And fry fish. I like my Jamaican foods. You remind me of my late mother when we where both in her kitchen. It looked so delicious Sunday dinner was always so special to me. I have grown up have a family of my own and i have two daughters. I made sure teach the both to cook. They made me so proud because i got sick at work and i can no longer cook the way i use to. I am so blessed because my two daughters cook all the dishes. I enjoyed your video. It be nice if your able to do some curry mutton and rice and peas and you could do plain rice. Because that is how it was introduced to me by my late mother she was a great cook. I miss her but she taught me a lot. But she just did not tell me how i must live my life without her. But cooking the Jamaican dishes make me think of my late mum. I look forward to see more of your videos. Peace be with you. And yes i am still in lock down OUR government just started to lift the lock down ristrictions have a great day ❤🙏

Taylor Redd this is just how our markets sell them. We’ve seen in the comments where a lot of people have seen them “flat” or “thinly sliced”. Our market cuts the in the natural joints of the bones.

I find large oxtails like this at a local Hispanic grocery store. If you have one near you I would suggest looking there.

If there is a butcher department ask them to cut it smaller. I usually get a medium cut.

@@Desminique09stores near me have them too, but not this big. Usually smaller ones. Can only find big ones near me at the Hispanic market. But when I go down South to visit family I see big cuts in every store.
