Hi Everyone! Mapo tofu is such a delicious dish loved by so many cultures. I grew up eating authentic mapo tofu from Sichuan and I want to share a recipe of mapo tofu that my family uses! In this video, I shared 3 most important steps of making mapo tofu! If you get these three things right, you can impress guests even from China!

When I started this channel, I really wanted to share the recipes from Sichuan and the awesome food culture we have. One of the most used kitchen staples is Sichuan Chili Oil! I've shared the recipe on this channel and I also have extra ones I bottled myself using the most traditional Sichuanese recipes. Authentic Mapo Tofu Recipe:
• Ginger 1 piece,
• garlic 2 cloves,
• green onion 1,
• ground beef(3 oz),
• tofu (1 pack)
• Vegetable oil: 2 tbsp
• Water 1 cup
• Sichuan peppercorn(or ground Sichuan Peppercorn): 1 tsp
• Soy sauce: 1 tsp
• Sugar: 1 tsp,
• Broad Bean Chili Paste (also called PiXian Doubanjiang): 1.5 tbsp
• Ground Sichuan Peppercorn: 1/2 tsp (for topping)
• Corn starch (or Potato starch): 1.5 tbsp

Always love to se the small differences people have when they make Mapo Tofu. i was never a fan of Tofu until I tried this disch at my local sichuan restaurant. Now it's one of my favorites and I think I even make it better at home haha. The restaurant is great but I think they've tried to adapt it a bit more to the local crowd here in Sweden so it's different.

Yes!!! I’m always amazed by the little differences like in Japan Mapo tofu is sweet! 😊 but overall Mapo tofu is a dish that can be changed but still tastes amazing! I would try it in every culture if I can!!

Even after so many Cookings of Mapo Tofz here in Germany I would love to eat one Plate of Mapo Tofu in the Sichuan Region itself 🔥🔥

Ma Po Tofu is one of my favourite dishes. When I found your recipe I thought i give it a try, and I just finished cooking it myself at home. It came out delicious. So quick and easy to prepare and such a yummy result. Instead of the beef i used a few mushrooms (in my culture we nickname mushrooms 'the meat of the forest') and they taste really good as well. Thank you so much for your wonderful recipe. Ma Po Tofu will be much more often on my plate in the future :)

OMG, I swear I have watched probably all the szechuan mapo tofu videos, and this is finally the one to mention specific region/brands (pixiandouban jiang).

Yes pixian doubanjiang is essential to make Mapo Tofu the authentic way! Other sauces are fine for adaptations but if you want Sichuan flavor, you got to have pixian doubanjiang and Sichuan peppercorn! 😊
