Hi, and konbanwa, Mr pioneer! Whereabouts are you pioneering ? I just came across with your channel and have been deeply impressed by the awesome style of a KZbinr ; the covered wagon, of which folding table, the red wheels, and so on, looks as if you were in the west in the old years and harsh days. I live on, a collina del mare, a southern coast of Kyushuh, Japan, facing the ocean in the west. I’ll keep watching your channel from Japan, and look forward to your episodes to come up. My silly question is , What is your gun for ? I believe it isn’t for animal predators or human beings. It’s 20:47 March 18, 2024, and good night.
@WesternPioneer8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I'm in Oklahoma and there actually are some predators in the area, I've seen rattle snakes, coyote, bobcat, and I believe I've seen some mountain lion prints, all here on the property. I probably don't need the gun but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

What is the orange thing? Sweet potato? Also how are you keeping the meat from spoiling? What about water? Are boiling it from the water source?
@WesternPioneer2 ай бұрын
Yes it's a sweet potato. Right now have a modern day cooler to keep my meat from spoiling. Often the pioneers would just put their meat in their barrel full of drinking water to keep it from spoiling, I don't want to die of dysentery. Once I'm further along with the cabin build I can divert more attention to preserving meats.

What is the make and caliber of your revolver? I'm guessing Ruger and .45Colt.
@WesternPioneer15 күн бұрын
It's a .45 but there are no markings on it. This revolver was actually made specifically for Hollywood westerns in the 1940's. And back then real cowboys would go work as actors in Westerns as a side job and apparently on one cowboy's last day he was gifted this pistol by the set. He has since passed and I bought it from his son at a yard sale. I wish I new what productions it was in. It shoots straight and the trigger is fantastic.
@jamesstephenson853915 күн бұрын
@WesternPioneer You really should have it checked out. Not that you Or I would ever sell it but it might be worth quite a sum. Someone like gunsmith Hamiliton Bowen or You Tuber Hickok. 45. It would be interesting to know for sure.

It is a Colt 45 but there is no brand name on it. I bought it from a guy who's father was a Western television actor in the 1940-50's. Apparently he was given this pistol on his last day of filming as a gift. I wish I knew what shows this revolver appeared in, I'm sure it was used for decades with how worn it is.
