Fun fact that “ monument” you found is actually a museum next to the mall . Last time I was there I was skateboarding in that circle part below and I got robbed at gunpoint mid afternoon for my skateboard and wallet . At that time they where featuring a mid evil torture exhibit and I was waiting outside for some friends to show up to check it out . I used to take my skateboard to Juarez when I was 12 and go all the way to the Mercado and get fresh tortillas for my mom . We frequently went there to eat and buy Mexican art and pottery for our yard in El Paso . But when I got to high school I used to sneak off to Juarez to drink and go to Tequila Derby and other clubs rite off the strip over the bridge . They never checked IDs and they sold tiny Coronas for 50 cents each .I’d buy ten at a time for me and my friends lol . Mind you I was only 15 . My best friend had a huge mansion two streets over from Juan Gabriel’s house on C Ignacio de Mejia and I would stay at his house on weekends to sneak off to underground raves and concerts I knew my parents would never let me go to in El Paso . I saw Armin Van Buuren at a place called Moroccos which was run by the cartel and they sold and passed out ecstasy to everyone forcefully including Armin . Juarez is a place of nite time wonders my friend 😅. Super safe . Just don’t get pulled over at nite unless you have $20 and can talk your way out of being robbed by the police . I once had to run from the police because I didn’t want to pay them just to stop bothering me and my friends and they literally chased us all the way to the middle of the boarder bridge and I was maybe 20 30 yards in front of them running for my life and I was so fortunate to have change in my pocket at the toll to get back over and once they saw that I was over the line on the bridge they turned back and left . Not a joke nor a lie this was when I stopped going to Juarez for a long time . Shortly after graduating high school in 2005 the clubs I once’s loved all got shot up and the owners where murdered by the cartel and they closed . I haven’t been back since then even though it’s calmed down again because there is a false sense of security there bro your always being watched and they know your not from there . I don’t care what anyone says on here I’ve been there done that and seen some wicked stuff there as a kid and teenager . For the most part it’s not bad but it’s also not a place to vacation lol . The reason the border patrol randomly selected you is because you probably looked like a drug mule . Random white dude spending one day in Juarez for the first time ever walking back over mid afternoon or evening with minimal belongings . People used to do that all the time to go buy cocaine they kept in their underwear. Back before Obama you didn’t need a passport to cross over to Mexico you just needed a state ID or school ID . It was very easy to go back and forth between El Paso and Juarez.

@@alexvswrld I spent about an hour just strolling up and down a street with a bunch of souvenir shops near the north border entrance. I would recommend staying close to these touristy streets and areas. To be completely honest Ciudad Juarez is not very beautiful imo. The air quality is not so great and none of the buildings I visited had any AC, so prepare for that. However, it was very interesting to see how different it was to El Paso in terms of its infrastructure, culture and people. The people I met there were very kind to me even though I looked like a completely lost American tourist. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your positive attitude regarding Cd. Juarez. You did a very nice job for someone who does not know all of the history of "El Paso del Norte". It is a real privilege to live here and to be able to experience different cultures in a single day. Your experience with US border officials is not unusual. Somehow they seem to select those agents from the dregs. They are usually not very intelligent and are very impressed with themselves and this power they are given. I have met sociopaths among them.
