David signed my book in Seattle on his 'Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls' tour. I was last in line after he had drawn hundreds of owls on hundreds of books for adoring fans. It was very late at night but he was alert enough to comment on my extreme choice of clothing, which was a sequined ballgown. He said I looked pretty and I probably sputtered something dumb back, sweating and in the presence of my truest comedy spirit animal of all time. The owl he drew on mine was sloppy and didn't look like an owl at all. He explained that it was actually a vagina, and said it was remarkable, "since he had never actually seen one before in real life." ♡ I will treasure that book and all of his work, forever! Awesome hike, thank you, Kevin!

I have seen a lot of these episodes and plan to watch every last one. But I doubt I’ll enjoy a guest more than the wildly talented, funny and forthcoming David Sedaris. Even though he’ll never read this comment (yet another reason to admire and enjoy him). When my friend Maybeth asked him to sign her book some years ago, she happened to mention to David that she had seen him at a previous signing years earlier. They chatted, he was lovely and gracious, he signed the book. “We meet again, Enchantress.” Maybeth (may her memory be a blessing ❤) was just tickled.

I'm in College and all these kids are getting dogs when they live more or less in two bedroom apartments. They maybe walk them once every two days... maybe, and they are big dogs a lot of the time; Pitbull are in right now big time. And I'm not saying I dont like dogs, but I get what David is saying. Some people, especially young people see dogs as a toy more then a pet and want to show it off rather then truly take care of them.... same with parents and kids haha
@Renegade4rebels4 жыл бұрын
@Deborah Shaw You should tell her to either take care of her dog, or find a home for him where someone else will better then she is. Dogs are not accesories, they are living creatures who absolutely love us, and thus we should do our best to return the favor.

A few years ago David Sedaris appeared at an American Library Association annual conference. He walked on stage, placed his book on the podium, opened the book, looked down at the book, and started reading. No preamble, no opening joke, nothing. When he finished reading, he closed the book and walked off stage. No answering questions, no off-the-cuff remarks, nothing. I was there. I haven't been a fan since.

What a pleasant surprise to find you guys on the trail! I'm a parks janitor. My best friend is on a solo-camping trip to some other state park, so each night I send him a fake parks alert. Sasquatches 1st night, and last night I told him it was a big cover-up, but that there indeed was issued to all park rangers an EGAP alert: Excessive Ghost Activity in Parks. Tonight, he's gonna be told of a BOLO for an escapee from the nearby "Asylum for the Criminally Insane." Mr. Kevin, I'm glad you're happy and healthy. Mr. David? ... I can't. I can't get started. To extend to you the thanks I have for your writing voice would require an essay on my part. Mr. Kevin, Mr. David? I've been bothering on Twitter Mr. David Spade. He's thumbsed up a couple my comments. It's just, for years, I've thought Spade and I look like siblings, in our build and faces. I've added Amy Sedaris and Jane Lynch into the sibling mix of faces and behaviors. I'm not in the business; I seek nothing, except maybe to sing together one good time. I'm @Betsybrains. With A Mighty Wind mood. Mr. David, your writing voice lit a bulb over my head around 2005: "Oh! So a writer can just talk. Every sentence doesn't have to win a grammatical award!" Reading your work helped loose the stop from my writer's throat, for sure. (W. Whitman allusion) So very good then. We're getting the ball rolling for some wonderful visiting and song singing. Now quiet down! The both of you! Watch your marshmallows over the campfire. There there, now... That's the time. 'G'night now.

I just read a great new book on owls ("What an Owl Knows by Jennifer Ackerman) and one of the experts said that throwing apple cores and other food out the window onto the roadside is actually a bad idea. This came as a surprise to me but apparently a lot of owls that get hit by cars are hunting mice, etc. on the roadside who are of course attracted to the food thrown out the window. So, best to put it in the garbage or compost. Safer for owls and other birds of prey!
