Just reading this now and really enjoying it! First time I have neglected life for a novel in ages - it's a good feeling :) Reading it with youtube open to listen to the 80's soundtrack references come up so news of going to the big screen is even easier to imagine as amazing :)!

I saw the movie based on his book today It's not a movie but a genius tribute to the 80s, pop culture, gamers and their gaming spirit, internet connections and bonds, amazingly well used references to cult classics like 'the shining' 'King Kong' 'Godzilla' and others JUST A DELITE TO WATCH A COOL MOVIE like such 😊

I read this book in a day. I can't stop thinking about it and researching it. When they make the movie they better be so careful not to fuck it up. A lot of detail needs to go into it.

RoboBoss Honestly, i believe this would be the most ambitious movie in the last 15 years. And that's saying a lot when i consider Nolan films, and Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Lord of the Rings to be very ambitious and challenging films.

VoiceMonkey This could definitely be the next big thing, if it works out on the movie side of things. It has so much potential, and it's so great that Spielberg is directing it. Spielberg's movies are like pizza; when they're great, they're great, and when they're bad, they're still pretty good.

They also must have some great lawyers if they can get the rights to all the pop-cultural references.
@yorickmoran35169 жыл бұрын
RoboBoss Well if steven spielberg managed to get the rights for bugs bunny and mickey mouse for who framed roger rabbit. Then he can probably get the rights for all of the reference in the book.

Little known fact. the 80s actually took place in the 70s. Which is odd because so did the 60s.
The book wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be. Take away the video game and 80's references and it loses some of its appeal. Is it the worst book I have read, nah... is it the "best book ever," not even close.
@TheNugettinage9 жыл бұрын
JonnyB Good It has the same kind of appeal as Indiana Jones I think. Indiana Jones movies in themselves aren't actually that great, but there's just something so organic, so fun, and so interesting about the situations and the character that they have risen to become classics (other than the fourth one, ugh).

I see Halliday in Ernest a lot. The way he describes his awkward laughing and such. Ernest himself seems like he suffers from some form of autism. Nice to see a reflection of himself in the book
@TheStanishStudios7 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s because he wrote himself into the story through Halliday
@jakeuskun6 жыл бұрын
Jamie Halliwell I see Cline in both Wade and Halliday, It was interesting how it was like he was passing the torch to himself at the end of the book. As an aspiring writer I struggle to find a story that grasps my interest. I have an idea that i’ve been working on for months almost a year now, and i’m starting to get frustrated with the direction of my story. I write myself into multiple characters in a lot of ways. Making a lot of my characters 1 dimensional.
