great interview! good perspective on the formulas to being successful.. its hard to find mentorship tho... most ppl in successful positions only help their kids/family.. and not help as far as handouts but running a successful business or giving u that one piece of invaluable info you need to get to the next level.. These days many "mentors" disguise themselves as being helpful to your situation and you end up in a very uncomfortable position. Have to be careful out here and if you are blessed to find someone willing to pour into you w/no expectations in return you are the rare exception and like I said BLESSED.
@matthewmoseslee7 жыл бұрын
j will Check out the book by JT McCormick - "I Got There"...we must learn the rules to the game...in many cases we have to look at the key distinctions that has allowed an apprentice to get their mentors...be careful about your beliefs and how they may limit your opportunities...If mentors only hired family members...what do you say about all the successful people that didn't have a family member mentor them?...just don't limit your ability to see key distinctions that allowed successful ppl to find a mentor
@JWillDrums7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Lee not limiting myself and def not saying that only family members find mentors.. i was just giving perspective... u can't rely on "people" to give you the tools u need to be successful. Especially when starting from scratch or a book you may have read.. ive been a self-managed musician for years and many mistakes Ive made have been thru trial and error I wish I could have prevented by having a mentor or even a family member to turn to..its hard to find ppl willing to take you under their wing and teach you everything they know.. it just doesn't happen as often as u think.. we are separated by class for a reason some doors have to be broken down to get thru them... just a thought..
@matthewmoseslee7 жыл бұрын
j will i do understand your struggle of not having family members to help teach me how to navigate my circumstance and have felt the same way. You're right being born into a certain class does give you certain privileges, such as being born in the US or being born in the internet age. Books will not level the playing field they simply provide a way to become aware of the game and the rules of the game...when applying the rules to your individual circumstance there will always be some trial and error, and they may not even work the same because of your individual circumstance...I applaud your work ethic & commitment to make a way when no mentors existes...just remember that "human beings are still prone to human nature" they always want to serve the best interest of themselves and their familes...as a result hopefully you can use knowledge from books & OPE (Other Ppl Experiences) to give you new approaches on how to develop the skills & ability to persuade, influence, and create Value that can serve a mentor's best interest so you simply can use the key and "unlock" the door, and therefore you don't have to "break" it down...I have had to "break down" plenty of doors that is until I started to learn more about influence & persuasion and how to apply it to my situation to gain and advantage...I wish you the best with your path and journey and that you help pass along the knowledge

I agree with mostly everything he said except for the going to the college part. Maybe it's because I come from a family where they really stressed education. I knew that I want to do music but I didn't study music in college. I studied sociology and social work and it helped me to really educate myself on social justice issues (current and historical), build friendships with people in different fields (I have friends that are lawyers, nurses, teachers, etc) and I was able to perform my songs at shows on campus and connect with other musicians on campus.

Everyone is a philosopher nowadays. However Kanye said it best. 'You don't have the Answer!' If this cat had the answers he wouldn't be up there try to convince you to buy his book. The answers are in you, not from outside of you. People like this chap gift wrap words to entice you, to influence you. and ultimately to exploit you. You want to learn? observe nature! I am not a philosopher but I think very deeply. I encourage all to read/research these authors to so that we can end all this health care scam in our community: Raymond Francis, Jerry Tennant, Terry Wahls, Peter Glidden, Joel Wallach, William Walsh, Bruce Fife, Julia Ross, Trudy Scott, Hal Huggins, Gerald Pollack and MJ Pangman. These authors will change your mind about all you know regarding health.

I hope he cite all of the classical and modern philosophical sources that he "researches" in order to write his work. So people can realize that he's not just coming up with all of the stuff that he's writing. It's translation. Weird how that can work for an "author" today.

I actually enjoy these type of BFC interviews more than I do the ones with entertainers. 50 Cent & Master P are two recent entertainers that come to mind that gave interviews that were filled with stuff that even folks outside of the entertainment world could relate to. Theres a few more, but I cant think of them right now. Envy and them asking dumb ass questions could be part of the reason why the celeb interviews turn out shitty. But Ive heard Envy and C. Da God ask some great questions as well and the celebs still seemed like dumb asses who couldnt comprehend the questions that were being asked.
