It's a big truck. That means it needs a big 6.7 engine and a lot of power. That would also mean it needs a large and complicated cooling system to keep to temperature in optimal levels. That pole probably busted the front radiator and truck probably went into a failsafe mode to prevent important components from catastrophically failing.

And I just thought the driver could have at least backed up a few feet to clear the front of the truck and allow him to go around the light-pole; the truck's right front corner was all that was in contact with the pole, so a simple brief reverse and sharp left turn would likely have freed the truck from the pole and allowed him to continue on up the street. Luckily he didn't; again, he was probably too drunk to even think of doing that.
