Amen sister!! All powers at be make it so hard on family and patients, it takes days and weeks. Maybe the sheriff/sargent meant that their team should have been called as soon as any family went off their meds. With all the protocol in place, it still takes days to get them help. I am sure his sister would rather have her brother out of jail as well. What if she knew but didnt know where her brother was? I see so many mentally health challenged people roaming the streets. We need to do better as a society, but how?

The statement about family members knowing someone was off their medication & doing nothing about. They can't make an adult take their medication, they can't force them to take their medication & a large percentage of mentally ill people will not take their medication or believe they don't need it after taking it for a short time. I know several families that have called crisis line & they won't come out unless the person is a danger to themselves or others. One lady working the line was more concerned she was going to have to drive two hours to evaluate someone. They always say the person has to come voluntary. Well, no mentally ill person will go voluntarily. There is little to near no help for families with a mentally ill loved one. I'm sure this mans family attempted to get him help before this but where is the help? The family saying he was off his medication was helpless to the situation. Like many
