I remember when I did this a few years ago. I wished that I had been as young as you when I did it, but I am in my mid-fifties, and I always say better late than never. Just like you I get to live my dream job of writing, creating, and designing. I wake up every morning so much more happier. Good luck with all of your future endeavors. You deserve it. Plus, I hope whoever reads this that you get to live this kind of life as well. Believe me I think it adds years to your mental health, and your health in general, by giving you so much in the way of being stress free.

Thank you for this video. It couldn't have come at a better time for me. I have worked for a "Corporate" Company for 25 years and after they gave me a six month notice, this is my final week. I too will be free. The transition is tough and saying good bye will be hard. I too am feeling what you felt and thank you for the validating. Best of luck to you and your adventures. I love your videos!

Omg your clip of you quitting makes me so seriously proud and happy for you. I recently switched jobs and moved to a company that’s more flexible and allows me to write more and I had all the same feelings and I can’t wait to feel this all again when I cut the cord completely.

That feels so crazy and unreal for me. Here in Germany it is not possible to resign like that, at least not without a problem. You have at least a 1 month resignation period to the end of a full month, though most companies make it a 3 month period. (So if I gave my resignation letter to my boss today, April 22. I could only legally resign to May 31. and leave then. Earliest. Like I said it is mostly 3 month.) If you work there for decades the period gets even longer. The same period is also valid when the company wants to fire you. An immediate resignation or firing is only possible if the working relationship is not bearable for one side. If you resign from one day or another without a valid reason your former employer can sue you. (Or you can sue him if he fires you.)

Interesting to hear how it works in other countries! We have a lot of leeway here in the U.S.

@@AuthorKristenMartin Yeah, things work different. But I don't think it is a bad thing, because you have the security that you can't be unemployed from one day to the other and have enough time to look for another job.
@persephone38925 жыл бұрын
@@Sina-aka-potatosupreme I believe this is because of the employment contracts signed in America. In most states, both the employee and employer can end the job at any time with almost no reason. Often, there is little consequence for quitting this way when applying for new jobs. (Especially if the employee had a good reason and worked there for a long time. Also the company is required to pay out all time, including unused sick and vacation days.) (There are exceptions, like positions with a lot of responsibility - attorneys, doctors, even childcare to some extent. But it would still be in the contract signed.) Its part of the pursuit of happiness.

Personal preference is totally valid here, but a two week notice of resignation is usually the norm. It does very by industry and your role within the organization. Essentially, you would still resign as Kristen describes, but it would be two more weeks until your last day on the job. This gives your employer time to redistribute your workload gives you time to finish up in-flight projects and keeps you from burning any bridges. I think Kristen was in sales though and typically they do an immediately resignation like she decribed in the interest of protecting customer lists and relationships.

It's strange to see you hand your notice in and you leave there and then! I'm on 3 months notice period, so have time to say goodbyes and sort out final pay etc. Though I understand this, if the job deals with sensitive materials, or you leave to go to a competitor (called gardening Keane in the U.K.). But thank you for fir sharing this , it's not easy to go through it on the actual day, despite dreaming about it for years! I know I will be the same, but you have to acknowledge when enough is enough and a new adventure beckons!

Dear Kristen. I hope that you see this message. I am on my journey to transition from my corporate day job to become a full-time spiritual entrepreneur (launching a business that provides spiritual products & services as a holistic and spiritual practitioner). My question to you is, did you choose to keep your work life separate and private from your entrepreneur/online life? And were you successful? My fear is those at my job finding out about my entrepreneurial pursuits AND the fact that I am a spiritual practitioner (although I'm sure they suspect), and having it cause problems for me at work. This fear has caused some delays in my forward movement. I'm curious about your transition, and any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! ~Love and Light :)

I used arctic fox as well! I wanted a dark teal that my boss approved and I had fallen in love with this swatch with another (permanent) brand and used that, but the only place it turned actually dark teal was around my hairline, the rest was a dark gray. I put arctic fox over it all and now it's the color I wanted!

Thank you for giving a name to what I aspire to be: Creative Entrepreneur. It sounds far cooler than "Jack of All Trades". I am currently a sales manager but secretly an aspiring crime genre writer, I'm working on my very own South African True Crime Podcast and have a ton of other ideas to relate to my brand. Now I have a name for what I want to be. My second comment is that I am amazed that in America they let you resign and leave with a day's notice. In South Africa (contract dependant) it's thirty days notice which you work or they deduct from any monies owed to you.
