Autine axe contest winner axe making

Some while ago we held a contest for axe designs. Ryan from Australia won it with his capmers axe design. And here's how we made it! Thank you all contest participants, and also everyone who voted! We enjoyed every moment of it, and hope you did too!

As a young lad I used to hit like you at 0:45. I got sore elbow. I recommend heavyer hammer or assistant... When driving the wedge in you should hold the wedge, not the shaft. Wedge should be much longer. I have doubts if the grain follows shaft shape good enough, just possibly. But I like how axe finally looks. You have many skills.

Is there any way I can custom order an axe like this? Cause yes, I want y’all to still be able to put your makers’ marks on them, but I also wanted to woodburn some runes and religious symbols to make them the main focus on the haft. And if there’s no way I can do that, can I just order an axe head and make the haft myself? Thanks for reading.

This the one that broke on Wranglerstarr’s review bc the head used an epoxy to bond to the handle. Pretty unacceptable for the price

Do you still use poor head hanging techniques with filler material or have you improved your quality control from what it was in 2013? $300 for an axe is unreasonable when the head becomes loose after one use.

I'd love my axe if autine would of made it the way they show on this vid. But they don't. I have a goosewing made by Autine, and mig welded too with porosity in the weld. Man if your going to weld clean your steel before you weld, and your finish grind need improving if your going to hide the fact you mig weld these axes. I know of three maybe four axe sold and have be mig welded by Autine, and shorty after I recived my goosewing axe all the rivets fell out of the sheath in thee days. I think John should remove his name off Autine. A good smith not being honest to what he makes. Any one out there know of any more Autine axe out there wire welded I'd like to know. Thank

aaron l im pretty sure they have a lifetime warranty for everything they make, sounds shoddy! get photos together and i recon they will want it fixed as much as you do
