While I agree that the process is fascinating, you have to accept that we don't NEED this thing. Modern materials are pure enough that folding only gets us steel with lower carbon content- thus an even more softer swords, katanas are already damn soft comparitively. Don't get me wrong, I have big respect for Ilya for going through this and his obvious skill.
@toffee05
@toffee05 4 жыл бұрын
@@anirudhdiwakar987 Swords these days hold only little value in real battles now. Many consider it now as more of a form of art. That’s why straying away from the actual process would “tarnish” that art. Especially because this is Japanese culture, something that’s been passed down for generations.

@@toffee05 Hmm...I get what you are saying. The price of swords these days reflects how they were made. The inherent value is different regardless of the performance itself. Albeit I believe the attention to detail in the methods used to make this sword would be appreciated by a Japanese traditional master smith. Particularly Ilyas use of tamahagane, knowledge of how to make it, knowledge of stacking, his use of traditional materials to make the stack etc etc would be highly appreciated by a traditionalist. In short I think the smith would be quite pleased with the appreciation of their culture that iliya shows especially in contrast to other western smiths who sure can make something that looks like a katana but a traditional smith wouldn’t really call it.

Fantastic work and I commend you for your effort as that was no easy task. I am willing to bet that your swords put others to shame as yours are no replicas, they are the real deal. Your understanding of the idea behind the sword and the creation of a sword soul alone proves you deserve the right to make them. And for a anime as beautiful and emotionally touching as demon slayer it also fits perfectly to go to such detail. and the bamboos was really a nice touch, seeing as he is holding that sword to free his sister for the curse. I made my dad a knife for father's day. As a whole, it turned out alright. But if I'm being honest, it's pretty trash. I hope that one day, I can create something as beautiful as this Katana to give to the people I love.

Honestly...the only thing I'm upset about is not finding out about your channel sooner. I'm totally blown away. I've always been extremely fascinated about japanese culture and sword making techniques. I'll definitely start binge watching your videos. The talent you have is definitely the fruit of many years of studying and practicing but I honestly think you were born with an innate gift. Thank you for sharing it with us, I'm truly inspired and totally in awe!

“ Japanese katanas were considered the finest cutting weapon in sword history”. Come on, i thought we got rid of that nippon 10k folded steel can cut thru other swords consensus. It’s common knowledge now that european steel was always better in every way to their japanese counterpart.
