I actually do Montessori with my kids as well! (Well Montessori and reggio mix but still!)-definitely having a safe sensory space separate from that has helped a ton! His OT saying that havjjfmmm C cc lol kids are still

Since Eli is a sensory seeker, I’d recommend the sensory peapod chair. It applies a good amount of pressure. I have one, and it helps me a lot.

thanks! it is already changing again! he has begun climbing the swing to unlock the windows trying to get out and swings with way to much power, so I’m installing a swing in the ceiling this weekend 😅 Hopefully this will Suffice for a while as this is the second or third change I have made sense this video! These boys are definitely resourceful I’ll tell you that

I want to apologize for the huge gap between videos as well as it taking so long to get the videos out that you guys have recommended, which is so important to me btw!! I have 2 sons, Yi and Damen, and recently there has been a lot of evaluations, specialists, and therapeutic programs regarding Damen on top of what we are already doing regularly along with the struggle of Homeschooling, record keeping for Behaviors, food logs, sleep, and of course keeping all of this paperwork organized, it has been fairly overwhelming and I had to take several weeks off of any sort of KZbin related activities. I know y’all will understand, and I really hope to start getting out The videos that y’all specifically said you would find useful in a few weeks! But it may take a bit longer depending on how our progress with our current situation is, as things are still up in the air as far as long term treatment to some extent. Thank y’all so so much for being so supportive of us and giving me the chance to hear your stories and your journeys in the comments as well.❤️🤟 It means the world

This looks amazing, but there are some products I recommend! have u tried Chew necklaces? On Amazon there is a lot and they help me at school and maybe since he broke his bean bags maybe try chairs that don’t have many beads in them?❤

Hello, if he likes to chew or mouth on things, you can get some good chewy sensory products that are cute and functional too! If you’re interested, I can send you some links that I’ve actually used for me. Edit, soft play climbers are great additions (a little pricy, but good) to sensory rooms. Bean bag chais are fun too. The possibilities are honestly endless😁

he has destroyed all of our bean bags, but I hope one day we can find some that are Yi proof! we had to superglue his crash pad zipper shut at one point!😅 And what is a soft play climber? he definitely loves climbing but he throws himself off of things even high up so I have hesitated getting him anything he can climb on due to that, but if it is lower and soft that would be helpful! And I would love the links you mentioned, we have tried some chewy s but are still looking for the “right one” that he will stick with and enjoy!

@@louderthanwordsInclusivity so essentially the soft play climbers are made for tots to climb on to develop gross motor skills. They come in like every color, shape and size. I think ESpecialneeds sells them and Amazon sells a small selection of them. If you are still unsure, think of a gymnastics gym. You can design a room where he can climb, jump, spin, swing, and be his happy, (adorable) stimmy self and he won’t get hurt.❤️😍

Great question! Actually I am doing that right now, however I was unable to originally due to this house not being in my name, I had to ask the owner of the house and they were not ok with it in the beginning. After seeing Yi needing more input than this smaller swing can give him, they have agreed as of recently though!

We intend to get a hammock swing and Lycra therapy swing to switch out, and an outdoor swing set with a platform swing and therapy swing as well!

I noticed you said in the video that he is a sensory seeker. I know there's two different types of sensory issues. Sensory overloaded- it leads to meltdowns to bright lights/loud noises/certain textures/too many people and etc.. And another is under stimulated. Is he under stimulated?

His OT calls him an under-responder, so it takes large amounts of sensory input to stimulate him, except orally where he is more sensitive and over responsive

Well We Were already transforming the living room into a room for us because it was larger, and as he got older, the furniture all became more dangerous to him, and so we eventually had to get rid of the furniture and pad the floor so he couldn’t harm himself, and we just added into it from there. You could do this with any room I suppose, so say if your child has a bedroom. some people have an entirely separate room for their sensory room, so it can vary and fit any size you need it to! I have even seen some create a sensory corner within their living room or bedroom!
