Thank you for this, Isaiah. You are a good kid and Abbie is blessed to have you as her brother. We understand how those reactions in public can go, too, and to tell you the truth...it has a lot to do with why we are here also. People are genuinely caring and interested in the kids. This platform provides a safe place for them to ask questions and learn and for us families to just be ourselves. You are simply AWESOME! ❤❤❤

My son has high functioning autism, he's 20 now and doing great but had severe behaviour problems as a child. Once someone called the police because they saw me wrangling a screaming child into the car...the police pulled us over about half a mile down the road to make sure he wasn't being kidnapped!!!! You are a fantastic brother Isaiah, your whole family are awesome and I love your videos xxx

i think what made your circumstances seem so scary for me was that you were a long way from your room with some very unpleasant, for abby, hurdles to get over such as elevator and long walks through such a crowd. you really are quick at thinking on your feet, isaiah, and poised and calm, which tends to lower the fear that uninitiated people (to autism) can express. shows how bringing the kids/adults with autism out can educate the public and show it as the normal family life for many, many families. you did a great job of herding abby and narrating and figuring it all out.

What you have to remember is that MOST people don't have any idea what is going on and are probably trying to figure out whether something is wrong not with Abby but maybe someone is hurting her. I worked with students like this in a camp setting and we would get the looks and also be pretty mad cause we thought people should be a little more sympathetic and understanding. There was one place (a ritzy local) that banned our group from coming back because of complaints from patrons. Oh well, we didn't need them anyway. Bottom line, those that are looking are learning, trying to figure out if they should help or don't have a clue.

I just wanted to let your family know how much you have helped people like me by educating us about Autism. You guys are for sure helping the world by bringing awareness. Your family videos have definitely opened my eyes to this world of Autism. The challenges, the happiness, the struggles, and everything in between. I had no previous real knowledge of it in real life. I have no experience with any Autistic people but your videos have really educated me & opened my mind about it. It has really helped me be very understanding of what might be truly going on when I see someone in public demonstrating the same actions and behaviors like Abbie. When in public I no longer judge kids as just being unruly, or being undisciplined, and I don't judge the parents as being enablers of those behaviors. Now when I see children acting in those certain autistic behaviors , I admire them and their family for all the extreme hard work they go thru every single day. And I really admire the parents for doing such an amazing job at parenting. It has made me much more aware of all the extreme hard work, dedication, patience, and love that goes into caring for her.

Thanks for sharing how you felt in that setting with Abby in tow (or she had you in tow ♡). As a mommy of a very active little boy with Autism, I've felt this way...and felt like I was wrong for it. But it's not something to feel bad about. I'm human. I honestly, get more anxious about the thought of not being able to catch him if he runs, and people just staring and not helping. But you touched on that when talking about the guy she chose to sit with. Most people are caring when it comes down to brass tax. And I'm so encouraged by your words of wisdom. This Summer we have lots planned (Spring break also), to help my kids get acclimated to public situations and people...But also to help my husband and myself to feel better about it as well. So, yeah...thanks a bunch you guys ♡ the Webb Family from Madison, Fl. loves you!

Isaiah, how did you get so wise? It is amazing how caring you are but you also understand and handle situations so much better than a lot of young people today. Regarding the stares, one thought that comes to me is some people just need a paradigm shift. They are making incorrect assumptions about Abbie's behavior. They need to understand autism and its effects. And that is why you are out there doing what you are doing and you are doing a great job at it. God bless you, young man.

You are a very good brother Isaiah! I understand it’s frustrating as heck and that somedays you’re not able to be a typical brother as you’d like to be, but you rock at being you! Plus with being a great big brother to Abbie. I can tell Abbie and you have a great bond! And that just warms my heart. I have a family member that has ASD (I hate saying lower functioning) like I do and the parents (my aunt and uncle) literally are ashamed of their kid(my cousin). They don’t let him leave the house with them. The only outtings he get is with his respite worker and when I go to hang out with him. No matter what part of the spectrum he and I are on everyone deserves awareness and acceptance. You are a very smart and very kind hearted young man! I love watching your bits in the vlogs even if it’s you in the back ground caring for Abbie or theses brothering autism parts. You inspire me and I bet a lot of other’s! Thanks for being the change and spreading awareness, from another asd guy to your family lots of love and support! ❤️🧩💙

I’m glad you uploaded this part too. Isaiah you did a great job down there in the lobby. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard that was, but you did it. Abbie has a save haven when she is with you, even tho the world is confusing for her at that moment. I also don’t understand why people keep staring at things that aren’t “normal”. Yes I too look when I see something that isn’t “right”. But then I go on minding my own business. Or offer help if I think that could help the other person.

Love this! Autism siblings are the greatest! The stares are so frustrating because in that moment you had a job to do... Keep Abbie safe. Of course you would focus on her, but gawkers make that job harder. Maybe the key is to rise above it, but in the stress of the moment it’s not easy. I’ve had people say to me they don’t know what to do or how to help me or my child in those situations. I guess the first step is not to make it worse with the stares.

It's OK Isaiah. I go through this with my Mom . She doesn't have autism but she has a below the knee amputation and a partial foot amputation due to septic shock from her one and only chemo treatment. I understand a glance but the staring still gets to me. People can be rude. I am old enough to be your mom and I can tell you I love you for the heart you have. You have a good heart and I can see it in your parents too. Isaiah, the world needs more young men like you. I see the kind heart in my son too as he has had to learn to live with a lot as his Dad has a brain injury and with everything that has happened to his Nana. I am thankful that my son and you don't let your situations turn you bitter but embrace them and love your family member anyway and do the best you can by them. I can't stand when people stare. Like whyyyy what do they think that's going to do? It doesn't help solve the problem or anything. It just makes people feel bad and self conscious. I'm grateful for the kind people that were understanding and tried to help, even offered to go get Abbie food. That was very sweet. I wish that the majority of people were like that but they just don't understand autism. But because of the awareness your channel is spreading, hopefully public perception and reaction will improve.
