@@thatdailymamaRN here with a 21 and 18 year old and 3 year old with autism. Another thing was he would not answer to his name, didn’t say momma or daddy until he was almost 3. He repeated many words and phrases. He looked like a “normal kid” to most people who just happened to tippy toe all the time. He was not social with anyone except immediate family. Most people will not see the early signs when they are not with the kid as much as the mom is. I raised two kids previously and am in no ways a let’s diagnose everything type of parent. My kids had to be tuff because I was that type of nurse. It was just a feeling in my gut early on something was off and I kept seeing the delays and odd behaviors. My first two were normal to advanced on mile stones so I tried to be cautiously optimistic that every kid is different, but at his 18 month check up I was asking for an evaluation after ruling out hearing or vision issues. Also, be aware of their lack of eye contact, social interactions and spinning, twirling, and excessive flipping of objects. Once the tubes in my ears were put in and tonsils were taken out, that took care of the speech delays and eating problems. Had I been diagnosed earlier it would have helped me understand what was going on in my brain and body. I would have had more grace for myself and for others. I would have had more support in areas that I needed it in. My health care would have been completely different and more accurate. This mother is being responsible when seeing and recognizing a cluster of symptoms that warrant investigation. We’ve come a long way since the 1940s, especially in diagnosing girls /women who can present very differently in autism. So instead of saying oh this is normal behavior from a 5 10 min video you don't see the toddler every day and neither do I. So chin up you are a gd person and clearly you care , just give it some time and try not to stress to much, they will eventually see and know what they must do .

I noticed every single signs related autism because he was so hyperactive and wasn't acting normal at all.....when i mentioned this to my kids they understood....but my husband couldn't....😢i kept crying and directly went to the childs mom and said that she need to consult a Doctor...she refused...and said tht her child is normal

My son at 2 years old had finger pointing, pretend play, had many friends and was and still is loved by kids, had eye contact, respond to his name most of the time, he imitates, he could folow all simple commands, but had only 10 words and used question sentinces, he didn't understand lenguage much and still has trouble speaking, had some repetitive behaviour and some stimms. He never had had flaping, never tip toed, very social, sweet and happy boy. He had and still has limited food prefrences (he ate everything till 18 months), sleeped always good, EEG is normal. He is now 4 years old and is very behind. He is still not verbal. He has more then 50 words and senetences he uses but it is not very good and i wouldn't call it being verbal because he talks in his own language most of the time. Words he uses are 90% of the time functional. He has no echolalia. He is at 2.5 year level cognitivly and with his speach. His motor skills were always good. They were not shure if he had autism but now they say he is for shure on the spectrum, we just have to do a test in a month to find out wich level. So he is not the clasic case because he doesn't have the typical red signs but i had this gut feeling from when his 18 months when he had regression. I just wasn't 100% shure.

@ I am a retired nurse of disabled and neurodivergent kiddos and I’m talking about kids that have tantrums or even try to bite when you try to play with them when they are lining up their toys, stacking the blocks or flipping or spinning the wheels. These kids don’t tolerate any interference with their agenda and don’t know how to play or want to . They will be alone in a room full of kids doing their own thing and not interacting. That’s the most severe. There is a range of severity, but anything that resembles what I’ve describes needs to be addressed and needs further examination.

My nephew was diagnosed with ADHD when he was young. He did well in school but was socially awkward. He is a twin. His sister was fine. As he became a late teen my Daughter (who works with autistic children Professionally) told my Brother to get him tested. We all saw the signs. My brother blew her off and said he was tested and they said ADHD. A few years later my Nephew comes to my Brother and Sister-in-law and tells them he is being tested for Autism. At this stage the only people who couldn't see it was them. Now here is the kicker. My whole family are toe walkers including me. He was a toe walker but had a bounce in his step. We just walk on our toes with no bounce. Sort of like high heels. Had I known about this toe walking thing I would have pushed harder for him to be tested. BTW, he now has a formal Autism diagnosis.

Thank you for making this video, I was just gonna ask about speech disorders, and also if this could be a result of ADHD, or some thing like dyslexia? I’m getting my daughter assessed soon because she shows a lot of signs and struggles with meltdowns a lot. I don’t know if I have ASD (I had every sign in childhood, but it’s too hard to get a diagnosis as an adult) but I just want my daughter to be able to have a successful and happy life. She was delayed with walking, and it was a little strange though, because she was really early before that with everything. Like she started crawling at six months, she could sit up by three months. And at eight months she was standing. And then nothing until 15 months she did not take a step. I am really confused about the speech part though because I do have ADHD, and my daughter also shows a lot of signs of that. I know she’s a child, but we both struggle with attention issues very severely. She does more like sounds and I also think they might be assisted you because she says words, but nobody can understand them except for me and I think it’s only because I spend a lot of time and watch her constantly. I just want to know what I can be doing to help her now I would say she says about 10 to 15 words really well but a lot of them are like animal noises. (Quack quack is a favorite, I also didn’t know that continuously, repeating the same word was a sign, which is some thing that I feel guilty about now because I do that all the time and for a long time I was encouraging it, and I feel really guilty now) This is why it’s also been brought up that most likely. I also have ASD. Apparently my fiancé gets very annoyed with my echolalia to this day. I didn’t even realize I did it until about 10 years ago when someone pointed it out and got really mad at me for it. And I still didn’t really understand it until I actually did some research on Autism. I wish I knew if it was possible though, because sometimes I feel like the reason why my daughter is like this is because of me, but it has made things very complicated. My family is very very heavily against any sort of ASD diagnosis. That’s why I was never diagnosed as a child. Do you have any tips on how I can help my daughter but also not hurt my relationship with my fiancé? He’s really against it as well, but a lot of it is because he refuses to learn anything about it. I love my daughter and I just don’t want her to have to struggle through everything like I did. I’ve never been able to hold onto a real. I’ve never gotten anything higher than an 84 in school and that was after a lot of extra help and hours and hours of trying . I did not struggle with talking, but more so I would talk so fast that you would not be able to understand what I was saying. Apparently that is not considered a speech problem though. My daughter also has this problem I think that’s why nobody understands what she’s saying. I feel like I constantly have to defend that. That was a word. This is why I feel like it’s really confusing to tell because like one of the biggest examples is how she says green beans , she says eenbee. Thank you for making this video again it was actually very insightful. I hope you and your family are doing well and thank you for helping mine.❤

It’s so hard to say because a lot of other disorders and issues have similar symptoms or delays so it’s really best to do an assessment. Autism has a pretty specific profile for most kids but I have heard of ADHD being linked to speech delay. Anytime your child has motor delays or social delays and speech delays I will always recommend seeking out a professional assessment if you can. I wish you all the best and just know that you are doing an amazing job mama ❤️

One thing needs to be considered that not every child shows the same symptoms of autism. Autism is a spectrum. Some children have no speech delay and in fact could be quite talkative. She is talking about her children's symptoms and level 3 symptoms. So please keep that in mind and do not try to see all of those symptoms in your child in order to diagnose with autism. Some people get diagnosed with autism in their adulthood because they didn't have those so called " typical signs"

The basic problem of people is that we are looking for a problem to put a label on raising children. As a mother of two children and two grandchildren, your daughter's behavior is very normal, and her games and jumping are normal. Let's not forget that she is only two years old.

My 2 year old bounces on the couch but she stands.and when I tell her to stop she does stop.i dont think that's our case.shes a late talker because she was born 3 months early preemie, she says some words and other times she whines because she cant say the word. She has perfect eye contact and always interacts with family.she lines up toys randomely but that's just a thing.her pediatrician doesnt seemed worried and neither do i.so I think it's just case by case with some of the similarities.

What would happen if you interrupted her when she was lining up her toys? Would she have a tantrum? Or would she think it was fun? A tantrum is not a good sign.

It is a sign. But not alone. None of these things aren’t meant to diagnose alone. It’s a combination of sighs and traits that are persistent and over long periods of time
