I like to look at bugs, they are very interesting structurally and often have beautiful colors, but I CANNOT bear the thought of touching them or having them touch me. Not even "pretty" ones like butterflies and ladybugs. It's the little feets and the crawling and the bad tickles. I'll happily look at them. But don't let it touch me.

@@adambomb1553 since writing this a year ago I have made attempts at being a little more brave when interacting with little crawly things. I rescued a baby spider from a classroom at the preschool I work in and I let it hang out on my hand while I took it outside. It was so small I couldn't even feel it. I also made friends with a garden snail by my house after we got some decent rain and let it trail around on my hands. Got some cute pictures too... I want pet snails now.

I wanna yeet people that come at me with the "I'm probably a little bit autistic". Probably the same frustration an OCD sufferer feels when someone who is slightly particular about things says "I'm a little OCD about this". I have to rehearse everything I say. I have to think about how I walk, how I talk, "is this too much eye contact, or not enough". "Did I offend that person by giving them a compliment, should I stop giving compliments?" "Damn it, I just mimicked their accent...STOP DOING THAT!" "Wait, what is my accent, where did it go? Oh now I just sound like a caricature of myself" "I can focus more on reading if I rock back and forth...and somebody is looking...stop rocking back and forth...stop reading"

Okay so I think I'm on the spectrum, but not as much as others " a little autistic" because I display several symptoms, but compared to others it's not bad and I can still function, and yet I completely relate to everything you just said, from eye contact to accents to sitting still. Imput?
@Liz-abeth
@Liz-abeth Жыл бұрын
@@eliyahmcneill9302 Autism is a spectrum so you could just be on the spectrum. Everyone's autism is different, some people have more difficulty in functioning than others. For example: I can seem pretty "normal" and function pretty well but the moment i get home/get ready for bed i'm tired, overwhelmed, and burnt out. It really depends on the person.
@AccordingToWillow
@AccordingToWillow Жыл бұрын
i mean does anyone in your life witness your thought processes though? how do you know that people you meet aren’t also masking? “everyone is a little autistic” is a different thing and definitely not helpful to the community but media representations and even the medical literature are rife with misinformation about autism. I don’t think functioning labels are any more accurate than saying you’re “a little” autistic and yet they still get the scientific stamp of approval until further notice. I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that an undiagnosed autistic person could use improper terminology considering how difficult it can be to get the right information.

@@eliyahmcneill9302 Regarding you saying you think you're on the spectrum ("but not as much as others"), I will point out that you are either on the spectrum or you aren't (basically, you're either autistic or neurotypical, no in-between), it's just that your needs may be different than another autistic individual. But being autistic means you are 100% on the spectrum, you can't be on it more or less than others. Hope this helps! And I hope I didn't come off as rude or disrespectful. :)

The one with the housekeeper was so sweet. I'm autistic and adhd and forget to eat a lot. I almost fell down my stairs one day, and it's so thoughtful to make sure someone eats. Especially making it easy to warm up later, because at least for me because of my ED, when I finally go to get food, it's overwhelming and I don't eat.

As someone with ADHD and chronic major/psychotic depression, that last one was super relatable. I'm always finding myself distracted with working on art pieces, instead of the more neurotypical "important things." It's a very hard road to tread. But I feel that if any sort of work makes you happy, even a little bit, you should praise and embrace the effort!!! #nothealthybutcoping

For my fellow neurospicy people, the song at 4:12 has a full version. Here's the link I found: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYmYdGmDhMx0ldE It's MaDJ's remix of Record Player, and it's so much fun to listen to, calmed my anxiety so quickly, it's amazing. Id love to know how I walk so weird that people bring it up to me constantly, same with how I'm constantly being told to smile. I was convinced not only do I smile a lot, but nt people dont smile as much as they think they do, watching them how is their not smiling for no reason different than my not smiling for no reason to the point of complete strangers feeling it necessary to bring it up to me? I'm genuinely curious so I guess autistics and neurotypicals who frequently interact with us and can tell the difference please explain lol
