The mall was a little challenging for the boys, but how will they handle 2 hours at the arcade? There were video games, air hockey, pinball, basketball, claw games, the list goes on. Will the autism parents quit before the boys?

All of the kids did great, but Ian did amazing. I remember your videos from when he was younger, and it was heartbreaking to see a child who just wanted to have fun, but became so overwhelmed that he couldn’t enjoy himself. Now he seems relaxed and can just have fun.

i'm in grad school to be a speech language pathologist and i was so impressed when alistair said "i wanted to win!" when he was frustrated after air hockey. the autistic kids i work with are also practicing losing and being a good sport, and it's hard! even with his emotions and all the sensory stuff going on he was still able to tell you why he was angry, and you were able to redirect him without a long struggle. i can tell alistair's language has come a long way, and that he's gotten some good practice using his words to get his needs met :)

I think your children are very well behaved in public places including the a fun arcade. The reason alester has his thumb in his mouth, it soothes and keeps him very calm. Your children are very well so far and I know that they enjoyed themselves while having fun at the same, the children definitely passed the test again.😊😊😊😊

Thank you for everything you’ve done for your boys, it’s amazing knowing we have people who care. And it means so much to not just me but millions of kids who to have autism, so thank you!

Oh man, the kids are awesome at the games! I was terrible at them as a kid haha. The boys are awesome, they handled the sensory overloading input like champions! I know when I was around the boys’ ages, I’d be fully melting down by the 30 min. mark. Now as an adult I wouldn’t have gotten that far. Give the boys a high five from me✋✋✋

I am happy to see Ian, Alistair and Connor having fun at the arcade. I have autism aswell, I am on the higher part of the spectrum I understand how hard it can be for people with ASD and other disorders that involve high sensory places to be extremely hard. :>

My autistic kiddo enjoys going to the arcade....maybe once a season? We sandwich it in between two calm days. They love it but it can be a challenge to manage sensory overload.
@maryblakley3590
@maryblakley3590 Жыл бұрын
We will also totally duck out early if kiddo is "done" (if they can't tell us then we watch for changes in behaviour or stims). Over the years we have learned that it's not a good idea to buy those activity centre passes that come with arcade tokens, bowling, Lazer tag, etc, as we often end up having to skip out in an activity. Playing it by ear is the way to go!

Hello!! I love this video and can relate so much. I also have 2 boys on the spectrum. A 6yr and 3yrs old. We went to Chuck e Cheese and we also did an almost 2 hour success time. I can relate on the competitive side from Ailistar ( I apologize for misspelling English is my 2nd language) and losing. Does that fade away with time? I’m struggling with my 6yr old because he always wants to win and now I purposely try to always beat him at games to teach him that it’s okay to lose sometime but I also let him win just to make sure he can calm down. Any tips you suggest? Thanks for sharing these videos….

Losing a competitive game against a sibling can trigger extreme frustration amongst a neurotypical child, so Alastair's reaction doesn't really seem to be outside the norm, although it may be triggered more easily. (Please correct me if I am wrong).

Hi first of all, I love your family. I've been watching for a very long time. I don't normally post because I never know what to say. I'm autistic myself and 33. But I notice on this video that you have notices about epilepsy which I think is fantastic. I'm epileptic myself after a head injury and I really appreciate The warning because not all you tube videos do so and they don't have to But it's nice that you do. And I thank you so much for doing so. I am from the UK I have sensory processing disorder and autism I struggle with interacting with people but Iv push myself I'm a Cub scout leader and I'm also a new foster parent to a 11-year-old.it was unexpected but I couldn't say no as it was a family member. It's not easy. Don't get me wrong but dreams can come true for people like us Don't get me wrong. I still struggle on a daily basis a lot but I got to keep thinking. Keep going. All The Best and keep safe xx

Hello I only know since a 2 weeks my 8 year old son has autism and adhd. his less strong points his concentration on one thing focussing and reading is not going well. he has speech therapy because he still has trouble pronouncing sounds properly. I must say I am very shocked when father and mother are at peace with it. I myself feel guilty he got this although I don't know it's my fault. am afraid he will be bullied that is my biggest fear he will be bullied at school and not accepted, now he is still in special education for children with learning difficulties.
