This is a cool idea. They have sensory play areas for babies/ children in the UK but not an autism friendly centre where older children and teenagers are just free to express themselves. It's great to see all the children enjoying themselves 😀

I just ran across this channel yesterday and I have to say it's just amazing! My 6 year old is autistic and I see so much of him in your kiddos. I appreciate you shedding light on even smallest elements of autism. As a parent I feel seen as I watch these video! They are so beneficial and truly what awareness is all about! I watched the echo whisper video yesterday and couldn't show my husband fast enough! I've never seen another child do it and I just love that you gave it a name! We have on here in Philadelphia called We Rock The Spectrum & it’s very similar to this one. My boy loves it there & you are sooo right about the relief of not being judged. I took him to a trampoline park for the first time a few weeks ago & I could feel people staring. Love from Philly 💙

Matthew’s Place looks like a wonderful to take your boys and meet other families who have kids with autism. There is nothing wrong with being around other people, as long the boys are having fun while enjoying themselves. I wish could have taken my cousin Trey to a place like this when he was younger, I know your boys like the party, especially Alster. He couldn't wait to get cake at the end.😊😊😊

This was a great video like usual! I wish there was/hope to find a sensory gym in Kansas City so I can get my stimming and fidgets out in an inclusive area and try out certain things to help manage my autism! That looks like a cool gym!

I had no idea places like this existed! Before the video even went into 1 minute, I looked up - and found - a sensory gym. It's far away but I also found out a new one is supposed to be built that's much closer. Thanks for this idea! It will save what little hair is left on my head.

Brilliant!!! I wish we had a place like that in my city. It is very similar to the therapy center my kids go to but we can’t throw parties there. I wish we could I would totally rent that place out. My kids already love the space and feel safe there, that’s such a plus for goofing off and having a gathering.

I just want to say I love your channel. It's really comforting to watch and educational. my son was Diagnosed with ASD this year. we knew for a while but it took some time to fully come to terms, and also the appointment wait time was long almost 2 years. Anyways I wanted to just tell you and your family you guys seem really great with your kids. who are ADORABLE by the way!! this place looks really fun. they just opened a gym near us I'm interested.

I am an adult with autism and as a kid, there was this place called DZ Discovery Zone I used to love. It is a relic of the '90's, they are no more .. but they were kind of like this. I remember the mountain where you could climb and the padded rope thing that you could swing from place to place. I found the most comfortable spot was the ball pit. A lot of times, I would go there first and completely go under all the balls or I would go through the tubes and stay in there for a while where it was quiet. I even had a spot where I could go behind the whole play place that was my own spot away from everyone lol But, then when I felt comfortable I would go play, usually finding another boy or girl like me (which I now know, they were probably autistic too, as we were the kids that were introverts, hand flapping when we were excited, and also usually hiding out in the same kinda way. We just hit it off). I think this place is cool and I am happy the new generations coming up have understanding and help for those tough times. Understanding is huge. Acceptance is too. By the way, if you have a kid on the spectrum, for me, I really loved the ball pit and I really loved play dough. Playdough was soothing and it was very much a stress relief to feel the play dough. It was a sensory thing. It was soft and cool. To this day, I even have some and if I am stressed out, it's kind of like one of those stress squeeze balls you get at Office Depot. Playdough is much more fun lol 😅. Also, the ball pit. You can buy the plastic balls that go inside a ball pit and either make your own little ball pit for the kids, or they also sell them in like a kit. It helped me out a bunch. Every child is different but it might be something to give a go. Also! Blanket forts!! Lastly, to this day, I have trouble with bright lights, particularly florescent. I wear clear lens glasses but have the eye glass place tint my lenses so places like big box stores are tolerable. I also take anxiety medicines to calm me down or else the agoraphobia (fear of leaving the house, fear of crowds etc) would be intense. I could write all day lol but, will leave it at there! If you have autism, just know that life is awesome and it's ok! There's a lot of us with it and more and more are learning what it is early which is a relief. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 24, although I have all kinds of stuff from childhood mentioning being evaluated for the 'gifted program' etc. Lining up my toys, vocal tics, hand flapping, and various rituals I made up to comfort myself were all a part of my day to day and on the outside looking in, I was a misunderstood kid. Now we know autism.

I used to work at an indoor sensory gym, We rock the spectrum, I am also autistic, and while that has benefited me in some respects, I loved my job! it was great! Our motto was "finally a place you never have to say I'm sorry." We have multiple locations nationwide and globally, was my favorite job I've had.

I would love something like this and and I'm in mid in life I've got bpd and proble autism and at a mental health group I go to we got funding for a art sensory person to come in and she straight away picked up on autism as she worked with children who were autistic and had sensory issues I'd love a sensory room

I just found y'all. I'm a grandmother in Kentucky and I'm pretty sure I have a grandson on the spectrum. He's 2 yrs old and completely nonverbal. He's never babbled or seems to recognize when I ask where mom or daddy are. He doesn't respond to his name either. He's still not walking or has never crawled although he gets to where he wants to go on his butt lol. Once he warms up to me, which takes about an hour we will play together, but it's more playing beside me than with me, if that makes sense. When he hasn't warmed up to me if I so much as look at him, he looses it! Everything has to be on his terms. Once warmed up he makes great facial contact and I see the world in his eyes. He will actually study my face. His play is repetitive, and he likes to line things up. He does not have melt downs and is mostly calm. He is scheduled for testing in September, but therapist have been coming to the house for months. I'm wanting to know if you have ever seen a calm Autistic? Can't find a video on that lol Thanks from Kentucky!

There are people on the spectrum who are really calm. It might not be the norm but it happens. Autistic people have their personalities too so it’s a mix.

I like how that sensory gym is set up. Being one who grew up with autism I was made fun of and judged by other people. There were certain things at a regular play ground that I didn't like and that sensory gym would have been great place for me. I am not sure about a lot of other people on the autism spectrum but I don't like carnivals or amusement parks at all. The rides have never been something I cared for. If I went I went just for the games or for a rodeo. But I don't like large amount of noise. That gym is very nice. I am going to talk with the developmental disabilities advocacy group here and see if we can get one of those.

I want to preface this by saying I’m not saying the lock puzzle that was on the sensory wall should never be used. I’m just giving some food for thought. A while ago, I saw a video of an autism mom talking about the downsides of it. She felt it was a bad idea because it can teach autistic kids that are prone to elopement how to undo the locks on gates, doors, etc. While you can control the “difficultly” and the height of the locks in your own home, and you can have safety systems, such as alarms and cameras, you can’t in public places. It might not be the best thing to have in a sensory room used by a wide variety of autistic kids, all with their own unique difficulties on the spectrum.
