I thought for sure after Trevor saying "friends don't rat on each other" he'd go and tell the other boys Lenny tried to hit on him or something mean like that. I'm so glad it didn't turn out that way at all. I guess that was just my experience with people. I never know when people are being genuinely nice or when they're trying to trap me...but i guess that was just my family. I'm glad that's not everyone's experience ❤

When Trevor appeared, I was afraid that was going to be a set up for a trap and more bullying. I'm glad to have been wrong. Also, like Lenny, I didn't really start noticing the opposite sex during my teens. I never thought myself as gay, though. I knew I was attracted to women, but that attraction was put away, out of the way of other interests, until my early twenties.

Can relate a fair bit to Lenny even though I was assigned female at birth, especially the bit about sexuality. I immediately noticed that I didn't seem to think and feel the same about any gender really, like other 15-year-olds did. I'm still on the ace spectrums today as demisexual. Physical attraction just isn't there when I don't like the person whereas everyone else was gushing over how physically attractive someone was.

Thanks for commenting. Sexuality and romantic preferences often come up when discussing autistic life and far more of us describe ourselves as demisexual than I ever would have expected. You are far from alone in such feelings.

@@AutistamaticUnexpectedly can also relate as an undiagnosed, also having been on the recieving end of such suspicion myself at that age due to attraction being more than just 'breasts' and 'bums' for me. I surely was not willing to expend energy on 'Masking' my way through romantic relationships with those I feel I could not identify with at all platonically - just to appear normal. Although never cared much then, I've somewhat come to appreciate TNG within last few years oddly enough...

Agree it doesn’t change much as you get older. I found coming from regional areas you are made to assimilate but it always feels shallow. Never understood still don’t why girls like lusting over guys.

I feel like I relate massively with both of these boys, even though I'm 'female' for most intents and purposes... my school life was a mixture of both of theirs. I discovered my autism during the lock downs of 2020 and have recently got my diagnosis. I'm 43, and have spent my whole life struggling with what i thought was 'not being a proper person'... I think knowing makes it easier for me within myself, but harder in society because of stigma, ignorance and (sometimes wilful) misunderstanding. I really hope there's another instalment coming at some point, it's been fascinating listening and you're a great storyteller. I'm quite invested in these two people at this point, I'm really rooting for them😊

I think it's sad some people get angry over the term label, when a person mentions Autism, as the term label can be used for pretty much everything, the term Homo sapiens is a label used on the last group of human species as other human species went extinct. A human name is a label applied to that person.

I know what you mean about labels. However, after being subjected to some dodgy labels in my time, I am not ashamed of being labelled autistic. Being labelled autistic is no worse than being labelled a father, a baldy, a lefty etc.

love this series!! they both hit pretty close to home but lenny's story is the most relatable to me i got diagnosed a bit late (i'm 20, got diagnosed last year) and had to spend the entirety of my formative years like this without explanation, it really messed with my head. if lenny were homeschooled instead, i'd be convinced that this was straight up just my life story lol hope you're having a good day and keep up the good work, quinn! 👌

If I was so lucky to get offer of friendship I wouldn't hesitate like Lenny, who cares which gender he prefers but I wasn't in boarding school, and in my city there was a group of boys playing RPGs on Saturdays in old sewing factory, where mom of one of them worked, so he had keys. One of them in my class I joined when I was 16, I did get invited, those were good times, and no bullies there

*Possible Trigger* In all honesty, I’m surprised Tom made it this far without at least contemplating escaping his circumstances in one way or another as so many autistics, especially those that go undiagnosed and/or unhelped, do.
