I like using ever coat light weight. I Use the cheese greater in colder weather below 75 degrees. In hotter weather I Use 36 grit sand paper. To make this body filler easier to sand I mix ever coat metal glaze with the body filler and resin.

A good way to keep your filler from kicking fast is to spread it out like you did on the board. A mound will generate a lot of heat and you'll have a paperweight.

Great work. Youre right about the inexpensive body filler. Going to try this brand. Question??? Can you still use the cheese grater even after the filler has dried? Thanks again.

What’s the difference between blocking at 40 vs 80? Does it differ between vehicles or panels? Or dies it depend on the type of mudd I’m using
@poky8390

36 on a block would of been more efficient as far as time and saved a step. Then hit it with some 120 on a da to get rid of the deep scratches. And unless you’ve done a lot of bondo work it’s better to undercut and recoat the entire area trying to feather into a an already established area of bondo will be about impossible for most people, they will sand differently and you’ll end up with a transition that’s noticeable

Does the 600 get rid of all the 320 scratches in the primer?
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise 2 жыл бұрын
You don't have to remove all the 320 scratches in your primer. You can paint over 320 but I would at least sand over with 600 to smooth it out if you don't get all the 320 scratches it will be fine. Appreciate the comment and support!

A great filler shaper is a hack saw blade, it will bend to shape curves. A bit tough on the fingers to hold, but works great IMHO.

Many many moons ago when I was at a autobody shop we all would play jokes on each other. The one joke was when someone walked away from a wet coat of filler was to stick a quarter in it lol 😆 We would only do this one the first coat. Some guys would sit to watch the filler dry lol 😆 It was all done in fun but pay back would be even more fun sometimes. I once got paid back one of the guys squeezed rubbing compound down my pants as I was squatting down, that was a big mess

@@clinttorres2508 You nailed it. It's important to maintain perspective and remember even the "Old Masters" like van Gogh mostly painted portraits of snotty nose kids and dogs to pay the bills between their rare masterpieces. We should all be grateful for our clients, not too good for them. Pride comes before the fall.

Filler on bare metal 🙅🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Ай бұрын
I use all different techniques. Sometimes I put it over bare metal. Sometimes I put it over sanded paint. I know a lot of guys are wanting to put epoxy over bare metal before they apply, body filler these days. But in a production shop that's not always feasible, and to be honest with you, They've been applying body fill over bare medal for years. With no issues, as long as it's done properly

It's ok, it will get the job done. If you use a higher quality filler you won't go back to it. They sand much easier ,smoother which means less pin holes.
